this will be the second batch of stories to compliment the first batch that was released recently.

frankly, the first batch of stories were rather dull. it was hard to sit through them. the painted skin was the best of all of them thus far.

I read the originally "Strange Tales" by Pu Songling...and I don't believe even the first series was very faithful...but then again they were TRANSLATED into english

And yeah there were hundreds of stories written by the same author...the genre itself was quite popular in its day and time (if i am remember my history right)

whatever I watched the first Liao Zhai with Jimmy Lin, Hu Ge, and Huang xiao ming, and I liked that one. So looking forward to the sequel.
