What series is this? I see the name as Le^.nh Ho^` Xua^n, Nha^.m Doanh Doanh, Vi Tie^?u Ba?o, Qua'ch Ti?nh, So*? Lu*u Hu*o*ng ?? Is this like a parody or something??? I'm wondering do people have to ask Jin Yong's permission to have character names from his novel into series other than beside adaption ???

I was wondering the same thing. But honestly, I think the answer is no, which is quite sad but oh well.

I have seen bits and pieces of the show, and I can't really recommend it. Basically, like the previous lollipop show, it's just a bunch of commercial stuff. I mean, you will like it or endure it if you support any of the actors/actresses, but if you are expecting some deep, inspirational stuff, then go read a book or something.

The costume and hair is annoying just because it's almost wuxia, but not really. And the fact that everyone is always wearing the same colors make you wonder if they are all part of the same sect but the way they interact doesn't seem that way. Just is too confusing. On top of that, the actors and actresses cannot act very well and the swordplay (I esp. recall the one where Wang Zi is by himself practicing) is laughable.

I will probably give it another try just to see how it is, but so far it's not looking very grand (the word fluff keep coming to mind).

This series seems like a spinoff of their other series. IS this an ancient or modern series?? It looks more like a modern series with some fighting skills. I think it will be a typical comedy like their other series.

The names are actually not the same as Lenh Ho Xuan, Quach Tinh, etc...If you look at the Chinese characters, it does NOT say that.. Prince's name translated from Chinese is Lenh Ho Thong, Ah Wei's is Quach Kinh, and Xiao Yu is So Luu Suong. The pin yin is the same, but the characters are completely different. THerefore, if it is important to look at the actual Chinese characters. It is more of a play on the names which is kind of funny.... Also, Ah Ben's name is Vi Hieu Bao if translated into Viet. Once again, it is important to look at the actual Chinese characters!!

Thanks Trinie, for the clarification. So, it's meant to be "punny," eh? I honestly can't say if it's a modern or ancient series. Because, the backdrop (recurring bamboo forest) looks wuxia-ish, but the clothing and hair is done to modernize. I am sure it's meant to be a mixture of the two and well, that doesn't sit well with me for some reason.

Well, going into the show, one just have to know not to take it too seriously and be warned that the purpose of the show is to entertain and mostly to promote the artists, not for deep insights.

You are welcome and I felt I had to clarify it for you all or else you guys would be really confused. Hey, it pays to know both Chinese and Viet(sorry not trying to brag). I think they did that to the names on purpose to make it funny and more wuxia-ish. Gosh, I really don't like series that can't draw a line between modern and ancient. I guess I will watch it if I feel like it. Are you watching on Youtube? Do you know the link(without English subs since I don't need those)? If not, I can look for it easily on Youtube.

I agree that we should not take it seriously just like with their other series. I guess it is just to promote the artists. I honestly hope that the artists will make more serious series in the future. Their series are cute and all, but it will get old and bore the audience..... sigh...

Sorry, Trinie, can't help you. I'm in Taiwan and stumbled onto the show while channel surfing.

    I don't understand the hate.

I've seen episode 1 and so far I'm liking it alot.

The opening song is awesome, the ending song is awesome, the characters, clothing, music, storyline, all are awesome in my opinion. I don't see anything wrong. I find this whole wuxia post modern thing authentic and pretty refreshing to be honest. I don't think this series is a joke either, to me it seems pretty straight forward with what it's trying to do, simple story telling, and a well rounded pace. It's obvious the writers are huge fans of wuxia series. They're just making their fanfic dream come true.

Overall, this show may not be everybody's cup of tea, but I'm enjoying it.

I'm not being bias either, I don't even know any of the actor. lol

i also saw the complete series,
i find very good not great but not like the way many people say it, horrible.
sure the acting was kinda bad but if you are willing to over look it then the series is very enjoyable.
and i also didnt even know any of the actors, this is my first time hearing about wang zi or the lollipop band.

waht fishingpole say was right, this serie may not be everyone's cup of tea, because i asked my sisters about it and they say they didnt like it also, partly beacuse they dont like the lollipop band and the plot (they didnt even watch the series). they are pretty hardcore tv watchers

and the thing that MysticDust say that this serie is all about commercialism and stuff
what tv series these days arent about it, especially american tv series, those shows all have more commercialism than probably any other country's tv shows

I think that lollipop is still young and are developing in their career so most of the series that they are in are strictly "idol" series that would aim at the younger audience. I saw Hei Tang Ma Qi Duo and thought it was ok and would not be really appropriate for an older audience. However, it would be ok for a teenage audience. This series is probably the same type of series but they added in some "wuxia" aspects to make it seem different. The soundtrack is nice and lollipop has improved in their singing a lot. I am sure as time goes by, they will be in a larger variety of series rather than just idol series. But hey, that is how a lot of taiwanese idols and bands start out....

i might as well agree with you Trinie just like bsm this is just another drama made for the younger audience to actually promote the actors in it..(even though i belong to this young audience i wasn't that much facinated:P) personally i was kinda disappointed since the storyline was okay and i enjoyed generally the whole series i just wanted the actors to be more realistic as well as the fact that some scenes gave a quite fake impression to me ..! despite that i also feel that lollipop has improved and even though they probably have a long way to go they have potential!
