The Day the Earth Stood Still

Watch the trailer for the remake of The Day the Earth Stood still here starring Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connelly, directed by Scott Derrickson. The trailer looks interesting enough, alright, I admit I'll be watching it just to see Keanu Reeves in action.

The movie will open on 12th December, opening was pushed back from the original May 9th date due to filming commencing later than scheduled. The original movie was made in 1950's by Robert Wise which received critical acclaim. Remakes usually seldom live up to the originals, anybody planning to watch this, what are the chances of the remake being good?

Chances are it'll be a good movie - and I'm quite looking forward to it. Though I seriously doubt it'll be as good as the original, let alone better...;-) (And Keanu Reeves IMHO won't be Michael Rennie's match as Klaatu.)

Did you guys know the same quote (the Klaatu quote) is used by Ash in Army Of Darkness (Evil Dead III) to retrieve the Necronomicon but he fails to remember it properly which then resurrect the skeleton army.

I never saw the original but the remake looks good having watched the trailer, and Keanu Reeves stars in this movie too.
