Self reminder - Update blog more often and continue editing/writing for TOV fanfic.
I saw this movie last night. It was very well done. Asano Tadanobu was good as Temujin. Khulan Chuluun as Borte was good and very pretty. The young performers playing them as children were good too.
I thought Sun Hong Lei as Jamukha was a little bit over the top, but not so much that it annoyed me. Maybe he just seemed over the top because Asano Tadanobu's performance was so subdued.
The costumes, locations and battle scenes were all great. It was interesting to me that at one point when Chinese characters appear, the Chinese characters would speak in Chinese but the Mongolian characters continued to speak Mongolian and yet they acted as if they could understand each other.
I wonder how many interpreters they had to have on set with a Russian director, a Japanese lead, and Chinese and Mongolian costars?
Anyway, I would recommend this movie for anyone who is interested in Genghis Khan, Mongolian history, or just something different.

I'm going to go see this once school is over with...perhaps I will drag my mom with me since she's probably the only other person around me who's interested in these movies.
Ergo, I'll be back to edit.

I have seen this movie a while ago. Good movie as a drama. However historically it has flaws. Anyways, the purpose of the movie is to entertain, so no one would give a shit about the accuracy with the real history. Maybe the best movie made about Chinggis Khaan so far.
Just saw it last week. Overall it was good. The young cast was pretty good....young Temujin is sooooooooo cute! Not sure how accurate it was though...and sometimes I got a bit confused with the time lapses. The battle scenes were enjoyable...but that one scene where Temujin was held up in the wooden stock and he used it to smash that one soldier's face...oh that gave me the chills.
I have put up a synopsis of this movie which was only recently shown in SG. You can read it here.
The official title seems to be Mongol - The Rise of Genghis Khan and this movie is part 1 of a trilogy.
i love young Temujin
