OOUS: Observing Overlooked Unconventional Surnames

I just realized that Dao Baifeng (Duan Yu's mother) has an unconventional surname, at least it seems unconventional to me. Of course, there is also a popular Chinese singer named Dao Lang (Man of Blade), but that's only his nickname.

Neither. It should be oose (as in: Moose)

Don't forget Dao Baifeng is of Baiyi descent. There is no reason to assume that they would have conventional Han surnames. It would be like saying that all the Mongolian and Manchurian surnames are unconventional.

The character Ko Hung played in the TVB series Devil's Disciples is called Bei Tang Ao, 北堂傲 i believe.

Yeah, Sima definitely exist. There's an actress in the 80's called Sima Yin. She the mother of the kid who won best supporting actor and best newcomer award playing Aaron Kwok's son in 'After This Our Exile'.
