    Default Central Plain Vs Elsewhere

According to most wuxia/ancient series, central plain is considered center of the world, the best place to live in ancient world. It ranks #1 in almost everything... Martial arts, medicine, military, wealth, technology, education, law, food, ect... are the best in the world. Ancient china are very prouded of themself and considered all the outside world as inferior.... The rest of the world envies china and would do anything to steal their secrets to be like them...ect...

I wonder whether all these are true or just propaganda of wuxia/china... There is no doubt that china was very powerful during ancient time, but I don't think they are the best in everything and envied by the rest of the world....

It was pretty much true. There is a reason why nearly every aspect of East Asian culture outside of China were heavily affected by Chinese culture. Language, cuisine, calendar, art, etc. Just about everything. Read up on some history books; those aren't biased.

History books can be very biased, depending on who's writing them.

    They can be.
    But Geography books usually aren't.

The Yellow River basically made it the Cradle of Civilization for China...and everyone some of that transportations route and rich rich soil.

Even American and European textbooks admit the fact that China was the strongest in many areas for many centuries.

Which is irrelevant when considering that the topic starter mentioned that the books made China #1 in everything, not just standard of living or military power.

In fact, Jin Yong's novels like to depict the Song as superior to the Mongols, when in reality, the Mongols military would and did blitz the Song's, and anyone with a textbook could tell you that theirs was superior to anything the Central Plains could put up in resistace.

China was certainly of great interest to the West, and envied for many natural resources and technological developments.

But really, who would want to read a book in which the heroes came from some crummy place that no one cared about?
