Good external laptop cooling devices?

I'm considering getting an external cooling device for my laptop computer. Any suggestions on an effective, relatively inexpensive product that won't damage my computer through regular use?

I think the cheapest would be the speedballs. You know, those small little half-rounded things that is attached at the bottom of the laptop.

I ended up getting a Targus chill mat for $25. It seems to be doing the trick quite well.
