Default Why did Louis Cha choose 16 years for ROCH?

We all know Yang Guo had to wait for XLN for 16 years..
But why did Louis Cha choose 16 years?
    Why not 15? or 5?
Is there a specific reason for 16?
Because all I know is that XLN wants him to wait a LONG time for her, but 15 is still long. 17 is longer. Why 16?

15 is an odd number, 17 is even odder (it's prime)

8 is a popular number. but since 8 is too short, 16 works better

They need enough time for Guo Xiang to grow up and start off all the events at the end, and girls at age 16 just works better. =)

He needed a reasonable amount of time to justify the improvement of YG, while not letting him die of old age or letting XLN be in her 40s.

According to my calculation, XLN was around 40 and Yang Guo was around 36 in 1259.

If 1259 was the post-16 years point, then I find it interesting that Li Mochou's and the Jin historian Yuan Haowen's lives overlapped.

Yes it is. Great Khan Munkh (Mongke) died in 1259.

By the way , who is Yuan Haowen ?

Jin official, who turned his talents to poetry and writing a history of the Jins after his employers got nixed by the Mongols. As a 16 year old in 1206, he wrote a poem that's at the centre of ROCH.

O mortals, what is love? That binds beyond life on earth?

To all corners, in pair we fly... braving summer and winter, by and by...

Union is bliss, parting is woe, agony is boundless, for a lovelorn soul,
    sweetheart...

Give me word, trail of clouds drifting forward...

And mountains capped with snow, whither shall my lonesome shadow go?

Li Mochou died around 1243 (16 years before 1259), so Yuan Haowen would have been 53 and still alive at that time (he died in 1257).

Anyway, in ROCH it was said that Xiao Longnu thought 8 years would be too short for a sentimental person like Yang Guo to get over his love. So she doubled that into 16 years, hoping that would be enough for him to forget her. But his love for her was too deep.

    Question

Is that the part of the story where JinYong had a substitute authored on behalf of him when he was in vacation?

I think the part where Jin Yong / Louis Cha got Ni Kuang to write his story while he was on holiday wasn't in ROCH. it was Tian Long Ba Bu. DGSD. The part where Ah Zhi turns blind. I remember this because there was some interview with Ni Kuang where he mentioned "Sorry Jin Yong, I made Ah Zhi blind," Any one has a differing opinion?
