Default Which generally worshipped places did you -hate... I mean --> -not like-

Did you think that the -love-/-hate- fad had died prematurely? Not a chance!

Which generally loved places did you go to and NOT like that much?

For me, I didn't care for Paris. The weather was cold, everything seemed dead, and the people were as cocky as their reputation.

Of course, if I went again in Spring, which I plan to do so in order to enjoy it how it should be enjoyed, I may feel differently

I would have to say Vietnam. When I was in middle school some punk gave me the impression that it was like a carnival outside every night. When I went to one of the parties all I saw were guys trying to climb onto a stupid balcony by skipping on the wall and pretend to know how to dance while the girls stand on the side mingling among themselves. I thought that failed pretty hard but to be fair I was at some country side in Hanoi.

LMAO. How can you compare that with Saigon or any of the other real big cities? I personally have never been back to Saigon so I can't really tell you, but all my relatives and friends who go back say that they party like crazy there. It might look normal and drab during the daytime but once it's night, the city completely changes.

Don't you know, 2/3 of the girls you're trying to impress are Vietnamese

I'm not going back to Vietnam. I recently found out I have over two hundred relatives from my mother's side. I'll need to take a breather just by greeting each one. And they're all waiting for me to give me them money and then complain about why I didn't give it to them sooner and why I'm not giving more because I'm a rich American.

New York to be honest. But this is the 3rd time I've been there. I was impressed the first time because I was only like what 8 years old.

It's too noisy, loud, dangerous, and people are kind of rude.

If I twist the topic around, I can name other overrated places.

Flordia, nice vacation spot, but I would NEVER live there. So freaking hot and dead in terms of economy besides travel.

I feel ya. If you don't give them money they'll complain. If you give them money but not enough to build a house, they'll complain.

I'm not too interested in the shopping or the people. I'm just going to be there for the fruits.

on topic... LA. it really isnt what everyone say it is. nothing really to do other than visiting chinatown (which is smaller than the one in SF) and disneyland/universal studios. and smog everywhere. also the whole place is like hunters point in SF (ghetto). never been to beverly hills though. and the drivers are crazy bad, even worst than SF

btw ken, i didnt say LA just because u said las vegas, seriously

Vegas holds nothing for me. For one thing, it's in the middle of the desert, and I *hate* hot, dry, landlocked places.

Second, I don't gamble. I have bad memories of going to Vegas with my family as a kid and...well, being stuck in a boring hotel room because I couldn't go anywhere. Sure, I'm an adult now and can go anywhere I want, but those childhood memories of Vegas have stuck with me (in case you haven't guessed by now, I hold long grudges against people, places, things, and ideas that don't click with me early on).

Third, nothing's cheap in Vegas, and I'm a cheapskate.

Fourth, getting there and back is hell.

    Fifth, everything is phony.

Sixth, the casinos have no windows. Have I ever told you I *hate* buildings with no windows?

Don't go to the tourist traps. The best parts of L.A. are the parts that tourists seldom visit. The stretch of PCH from Malibu down to Palos Verdes is the best part of living in Southern California.

Also, don't neglect places like Griffith Observatory, our awesome museums (LACMA, Getty Center, etc.), Farmer's Market, the Grove, Amoeba Records, etc.

vegas is freezing everytime i go there. maybe i go there in the winter i hate hot places too, so i guess i can see why u hate it. but u dont gamble no wonder u hate vegas, theres nothing else to do if u dont gamble, unless u like watching shows... especially those late night ones

i'll make sure to visit those places in LA next time i go there, but im pretty sure it wont be soon because my experience was not pleasant. (LA was expensive!!! vegas was nothing compared to LA!)

    Not any less than you.

Just kidding dear. Shopping in VN hasn't really crossed my mind yet, but I'll probably be on the hunt for some shoes.

Not true. I was in Vegas for 5 days last time. I didn't gamble at all.
And I was occupied the WHOLE time. And I only managed to walk through HALF of the strip!
Granted, I had a conference to go to, but I still had plenty of time on my own to spare.

Paris was a let-down for me too. Rude people and I found it quite dirty, even the air was brown. Mind you, I was sick and only there for a day, so I'm willing to give it another chance someday.

Too bad, I know you'd love the Circue-de-soleil's Beatles show at the Mirage.

i'd have to say, toronto. i heard it's great for strip clubs, but that doesn't benefit me at all. -_- when i went there, it was summer and the middle of the day. i was near the cn tower, i think, and it was empty. i was surrounded by skyscrapers, and there was not a person in sight. it just creeped me out. i like big bustling cities like nyc and boston. i found toronto kind of boring. even though i don't like the snooty frenchies, i have to say i preferred montreal. the city just seemed more vibrant.
