This is Mr. Chubbs. The ill-tempered local domestic. He is not my pet officially ....and un-officially, I visit and feed him on regular basis, like my little "mistress". He is the anti-socialist around my neighbourhood. He is either feeling upset (for no apparent reasons), or in a depressive mood. Hardly playing around with others. The only time he is active, would be the time when he is looking out for rats. He loves torturing the rats, watching them struggling under his paws or going airborne; unfortunately, that too, doesn't make him happy (duh!).

At the beginning (that is about less than 2 years ago but more than 1.5 years), he hated me for disrupting his peaceful loner life. But now, he has accepted my friendship, and taking me as his only friend. Poor old guy.

I was told by the neighbour-lings over at the area where he conquers that he is about 6 years old. He would appear to be a fearless warrior.... he challenges dogs. Those much bigger than him. Yikes!

God, we should have known this was coming...

When I was in first grade, there was a fad to raise silkworms. Several kids would compete in raising the longest-living, most successfully transformed silkworm. We each bought a baby silkworm from street vendors. We would replace the leaf, their food, every day. Mine didn't survive for the transformation to moth for some reason, and that made me sad

when I was three, i had a baby chick...and then I accidentally left the cage on it's neck and it strangled the chick to death (all in the same day). i'm a horrible person!

    thanks ceddie...you ruined my day

since then, i've only owned stuffed animals

i also wanted to be a vet for a while to wash away my sins (not really), but never bore through the competition.

Growing up, I had a dog and a couple of tortoises.
I've not kept any pets as an adult, but I've "pet-sat" (as in "baby-sat") a dog, a bird, two guinea pigs and a cat for a few months when their owners were away for the summer. Thankfully, the cat and the other animals were not in the same house!

The most pets in my life at one time were a dog named Charlie [mine], a cat named Bumbles [my ex-wife], a big black male rabbit [hare actually] named Tigger [youngest son] and a crow named Blackie [older son]. It was fun to watch the four interacting in the yard [except for the time when Tigger, in a fit of hornyness, raped Bumbles ].

Ceddie, you've proven yourself to be a true animal lover.

Let's see......I've had one dog, 20 or so cats and kittens, hundreds of fish, 2 parakeets, a lobster, several crickets, a grasshopper, several very adorable snails, and some planaria. The only pets I have right now are my fishies. I also really adore my friend's tarantula and scorpion...they're just.....so cute. My dream pet is a bearded dragon, but apparently I'm gonna have to wait until my mom disowns me before I can get one. Not to mention that I'm too broke to get one now.

My dog is absolutely love. She's gone now, but I'll always remember her. She defended me against some annoying nursery school boys who were bullying me, and she was the surrogate mother to all my kittens (she fed them milk and they love her like a real mother). <333

PJ>> Yes, and only a matter of time. I guess my obsession with animals must've came from my contact with differents kinds of domestic animals when I was as little as one year old.

The little wormster must've not got enough love from you. Animals (especially dogs, actually cats too) can love us unconditionally. It only expect some of your attention and love in return. Of course, they expect some food too.

RYY>> Oh no! Poor Chicky..... I'm sorry for the very short friendship you had with your chicky friend. You are not a horrible person; it was an accident. And, for a 3 year old, you were too young to understand responsibility. Your baby chicky will understand; at least I don't think it'll blame you for its death.

Hey, I had ambition of being a vet too. That was the only thing that interest me to get into medical field. Too bad, I'm not cut for that.

I hope this would make you feel better.... if you think you're horrible, I'm worse. Having an alter ego known as Chicken Little (ask my friends why), I've always felt sorry for eating chicken meat. But I can never deny the fact that, I so enjoy Chicken Wings......with very little guilt.

Dear chicken friends & relatives, forgive me da unforgiven. I just love it when you're roasted.

Huang Laoshi>> The most unforgivable sin is to put all different animals under one roof when they don't grow up together or familiar with each other. Especially, cats and dogs. I'm glad you had separaeted them. Now, in my mind, you have a resemblance of Dr. Dolittle .

James>> LOL! Wabbits or the leporidae family are the fastest in multiplying....which, indirectly means, they're super horny! It's very interesting to have so many totally different spiecie coming together and 69.......I mean living at peace under one roof.

Bumbles was raped by Tigger, so you divorce her?

Bunnie>> Yeah, animals can be such a good friend to human. And, you already know why your username catches my eyes. I usually think twice when helping people, but I'm doubtless when it comes to helping an animal.

Generally, Tarantula are shy creatures. I won't kill an insect if they appear to be harmless, but for a scorpion, I would stay away. Beware of the sting. =p

Bearded dragon? Romania might have some. =D

What's the name of your dog? She reminds me of this old Tabby in my grandmother's place. We called her Old Madam Charm (OMC). She loves unconditionally. She even provided love for and feeds this stray puppy.

Coming up next: Story of A Hamster Tragdey. Stay tuned.....

The cat belonged to one friend, while all the other animals belonged to another. So they lived in separate homes. Once, I took the dog for a walk, and detoured home to my apartment to pick something up. On the way down, we got into the (empty) elevator and waited for it to reach the first floor. When the door opened, the dog came face to face with a stray cat on the other side. I was horrified for a split second, before the dog lunged forward with all its strength and sent the cat squealing for its life. It took me all I had to hang on to the leash!

    Ugly the Cat

Everyone in the apartment complex I lived in knew who Ugly was. Ugly was the resident tomcat. Ugly loved three things in this world: fighting, eating, garbage, and shall we say, love.

The combination of these things combined with a life spent outside had their effect on Ugly. To start with, he had only one eye, and where the other should have been was a gaping hole. He was also missing his ear on the same side, his left foot has appeared to have been badly broken at one time, and had healed at an unnatural angle, making him look like he was always turning the corner. His tail has long since been lost, leaving only the smallest stub, which he would constantly jerk and twitch.

Ugly would have been a dark gray tabby striped-type, except for the sores covering his head, neck, even his shoulders with thick, yellowing scabs. Every time someone saw Ugly there was the same reaction, "That's one UGLY cat!!"

All the children were warned not to touch him, the adults threw rocks at him, hosed him down, squirted him when he tried to come in their homes, or shut his paws in the door when he would not leave.

Ugly always had the same reaction. If you turned the hose on him, he would stand there, getting soaked until you gave up and quit. If you threw things at him, he would curl his lanky body around feet in forgiveness. Whenever he spied children, he would come running meowing frantically and bump his head against their hands, begging for their loved. If you ever picked him up he would immediately begin sucking on your shirt, earrings, whatever he could find.

One day Ugly shared his love with the neighbors huskies. They did not respond kindly, and Ugly was badly mauled. From my apartment I could hear his screams, and I tried to rush to his aid. By the time I got to where he was laying, it was apparent Ugly's sad life was almost at an end.

Ugly lay in a wet circle, his back legs and lower back twisted grossly out of shape, a gaping tear in the white strip of fur that ran down his front. As I picked him up and tried to carry him home I could hear him wheezing and gasping, and could feel him struggling. I must be hurting him terribly I thought.

Then I felt a familar tugging, sucking sensation on my ear- Ugly, in so much pain, suffering and obviously dying was trying to suckle my ear. I pulled him closer to me, and he bumped the palm of my hand with his head, then he turned his one golden eye towards me, and I could hear the distinct sound of purring. Even in the greatest pain, that ugly battled-scarred cat was asking only for a little affection, perhaps some compassion.

At that moment I thought Ugly was the most beautiful, loving creature I had ever seen. Never once did he try to bite or scratch me, or even try to get away from me, or struggle in any way. Ugly just looked up at me completely trusting in me to relieve his pain.

Ugly died in my arms before I could get inside, but I sat and held him for a long time afterwards, thinking about how one scarred, deformed little stray could so alter my opinion about what it means to have true pureness of spirit, to love so totally and truly. Ugly taught me more about giving and compassion than a thousand books, lectures, or talk show specials ever could, and for that I will always be thankful.

He had been scarred on the outside, but I was scarred on the inside, and it was time for me to move on and learn to love truly and deeply. To give my total to those I cared for.

Many people want to be richer, more successful, well liked, beautiful, but for me, I will always try to be Ugly.

I'm surprised too. In the end, that's one very touching story.

    The moral of the story:

Ugly died in my arms before I could get inside, but I sat and held him for a long time afterwards, thinking about how one scarred, deformed little stray could so alter my opinion about what it means to have true pureness of spirit, to love so totally and truly. Ugly taught me more about giving and compassion than a thousand books, lectures, or talk show specials ever could, and for that I will always be thankful.

Ah! The name, Zhuo Bufan, rings bell. Is that guy from Heavenly Sword Dragon Sabre?

I was hesitating for awhile, whether to start up this thread. I thought there weren't be much to talk about if it only says "What is/are your favourite animal(s)?" (sounded like elementary essay title too). So, to start up, it should come with an interesting title to stirr the audiences' interest (a better chance, perhaps?). Or, it might just say bye bye really soon.

Quote to share: Do it at best, or don't do it at all.

    Two Innocent Hearts:

Little Cad is innocent and pure. Little Cad has a hamster. Hamster's named Georgie. Little Cad loves Georgie. Georgie seems intelligent. Little Cad wants to teach Georgie Biblical stories. This is why little kids shouldn't get hamsters. They should get snails instead. Snails can be very exciting. Nothing is more exciting than watching snails race against each other.

Ah yes. Tis a very tight 100m race and the kid should be made responsible for closely adjudicating it from beginning to end.

I've noticed that they can go slightly faster if you place some sort of incentive such as really good food at the end.....though I'm not sure how far they can see ahead of them.

LMAO rofl: Ok, I managed to survive from laughing to death. You girls are responsible for my medical fees, however......that was so funny. Starting from expression LOL

Actually, snails without the shells can go faster. Have you girls watched Flashed Away? Especially, when they are frightened.
