    Default More Gu Long Translations

    Hi everyone,

as many of you know, I'm currently in the process of translating Meteor, Butterfly, Sword by Gu Long.

Since I'm going to have some more free time the next couple of years, I figure that I'd like to translate some other novels by Gu Long as well, since translating the same novel sometimes gets a bit tiresome, so I'd like to have a variety.

Most of the good Gu Long novels are already translated, or are currently in the process of being translated. I was looking through the forum, and there are two novels I found that have been begun to be translated, but the translation stopped (Horizon, Bright Moon, Saber and Third Young Master's Sword).

I was wondering if the original translators (if they still visit this forum) are going to continue translating these novels. If not, would it be ok for me to continue the translation for one (or both) of them?

I thought Third master's translation is already finished somewhere.

I am pretty sure of it unless there's continuation I am not aware of. My version ends when Li finally settled down with the girl.

I looked through the forums, I found around twenty or so chapters translated, and then chapter 46. But I couldn't find any in between or after.

It would be great to see more of the Li's Flying Dagger series put together. Are you thinking of continuing the existing translation or starting again?

With Third Young Master's Sword, I think I may start over again, since the original translator used a Vietnamese copy of the book, so all the names are in Vietnamese, and I intend to use a Chinese version.

With Horizon, Bright Moon, Saber, I think I'd just continue where the original translators left off.

I'm still waiting for replies from the original translators. I guess if they don't reply within a couple weeks, I'd just start translating and go from there.

I remember seeing somewhere that someone is translating it.
I've never read the novel myself, so I'm a bit iffy about translating something I haven't yet read (reading it in advance makes translating easier).

I always wanted to tackle "Horzion, Bright Moon, Sabre" since it's probably my favorite Gu Long novel, and one of Gu Long's most poetic, emotional, and philosophical novels. I was my planning to do so after finishing "Bordertown Wanderer" but I'm still 15 or so chapters away ...

    i think it was in
    www.wuxiasociety.org/forum
    in the Gulong translation section.

it is incomplete still at the beginning
and had not been updated for a long long time

i hope someone will be continuing this translation.

How about we split them, Wen'er? You take Tianya, Mingyue, Dao (I wasn't too interested in that), and I'll take San Shaoye de Jian (which I am very interested in).

I was actually thinking of the other way, since I sort of started with Third Young Master's Sword, since A. the original translator did say that she wasn't as interested in finishing it anymore, whereas the original translators for the other novel never specifically said anything, and B. I actually finished reading the novel itself, whereas I haven't with Horizon.

Darn it. I'll pick another book then, if you're sure you'll take San Shaoye de Jian. Maybe DGSD...ugh, that's so long though, and is pretty tough.

    I'm sorry ... I'm sure you'll find another book.

I can pretty much only translate GL novels, since I haven't read any of JY's except for Flying Fox of the Snowy Mountains.

Just do the fun bits of DGSD and leave the boring bits where DY is pinning for his girls to other ppl.
