I'm with ya...I can't wait to see this installment. Hands down, Christian Bale is the best cape crusader ever. Though, I don't know how I will feel seeing Heath Ledger on screen. His death was such a tragedy.

Yah. Based on the trailers, he is just incredible as the Joker. May he R.I.P.

I won't be surprised if he wins the Academy Award for this role. Based on the trailer, it looks like he has the psychotic/menace personalities of the Joker down to a tee!

i'm pretty excited about this movie. heath ledger looks really good as the joker. but really, with his death, he has pretty much overshadowed christian bale, even though he is the star. you can see it in the trailers. they all emphasize the joker.

and why did they put edison in this? O_o

I love the The Dark Knight not so much because of The Joker, because the character of Batman himself is amazing. I can't believe with Christian Bale's versatility and professionalism, he doesn't seem to be counted as famous before he does Batman. I find him very credible, sophisticated and easy to connect with as Batman, compared to past Gothic and comedic Batmans.

Heath Ledger, yeah I think tons of people will catch this show just to remember him. It's still hard to believe he's gone with what he could bring to this world and a whole life ahead of him. I never thought of Dark Knight as in Heath's movie until a friend replied to me 'yeah, i'm interested in the heath movie'. I was like, what heath movie, oh he meant The Dark Knight.

And I think what's interesting about this movie is that it's the first Batman movie without the word Batman in the title, and Dark Knight describes the Batman's character impeccably.

As much as I think Heath was absolutely amazing in the movie based on the trailers, I am going to watch it for Christian Bale, whom I think is one of the finest actors there is.

Me too, I've liked Christian Bale since "Empire of the Sun", an excellent actor. Heath Ledger though, I don't like him very much. I think he's being way over-hyped for this movie; Oscar buzz based on the trailers?! Give me a freaking break. I'm not sure he'd be this hyped if he was still alive. I also believe that player The Jocker is one of the easiest role because you call go overboard in the acting and it would be a fine performance.

I'm not sure about that. I mean, the only person who was able to portray the Joker well before was Jack Nicholson, so I don't think it's that easy of a role to play.

Based on the trailers, I felt that Heath interpreted the role very well and did a good job of portraying the character that matched the movie's themes. I liked him as the Joker even before he died, so his death had no impact on how much I liked his acting.

It's just that I like Christian Bale better. i liked Christian Bale since watching American Psycho. I liked him in The Prestige as well, but I thought he was just an amazing actor in American Psycho.

I am watching on the 19th. Has been anticipating this movie for quite awhile since I have enjoyed Batman Begins (except for Katie Holmes). And to think that I don't like any of the Batman movies before Batman Begins.

Hasn't seen any of the trailers yet but friends have been telling me how impressed they are of Heath Ledger's Joker.

I have yet to watch Dark Knight but catching soon. My gut feeling tells me this Joker will be one that seriously sends that chilling feel. I trust my gut feeling, and I'm quite certain that the length of the movie justifies the motion. Not for the sake of being one long and draggy movie.

Having such good reviews in portraying the Joker, Mr. Ledger clearly shows his admirable concentration and professionality in this job. Thus, he wins my respect. He has made a name despite not being around. Rest In Peace, Heath.

Just watched it last night. Batman was very good in my opinion, the joker was quite good but was he really scary in my honest opinion? Nope, just a crazy lunatic that can't seem to get hurt no matter how many times he's hit.
Oh the guy who plays Harvey Dent aka Two Face was really good.

The Joker was frightening. He was a psychopath who thought of so many ways to screw with people's minds and he kills people for fun. If that's not scary, then I don't know what is. Heath Ledger was amazing.

Harvey Dent was very well done, too. I also liked Maggie Gyllenhaal so much better.

On its opening day, July 18, 2008, The Dark Knight set a single-day box office record of $66.4 million, breaking a record of $59.8 million previously held by Spider-Man 3. It is now on pace to surpass Spider-Man 3's opening weekend of $151.1 million
    IMDB top 250 - User Rating: 9.7/10 (23,611 votes) - Top 250: #1, defeating The Godfather (1972), The Shawshank Redemption (1994) & The Godfather: Part II (1974) -

    Consensus:
Dark, complex and unforgettable, The Dark Knight succeeds not just as an entertaining comic book film, but as a richly thrilling crime saga rivaling The Untouchables and Heat - WOW!
Well for the oscar, my own nomination, at least: best picture, best director, best cinematography, best screenplay, best supporting actor (JOKER)

I've seen TDK last Thurs. It is, in my honest opinion, the most brilliant movie I watched so far and mostly because of great script and real action.

Christian Bale's still amazing in the role and here deeper than ever since 2 and a half hours gave him enough time to show more action and develop his dilemma and psychology more.

I am very impressed with the psychological fobs they explored, deepened and introduced in the script. It was an understatement to say it went beyond my expectations, because so far no movie has portrayed the darkness of human nature as thorough, logical, real and as in depth as this one. Here, they have the vigilante who controlled his dark side and channelled his dark energies into bringing justice and Gotham back to its better days, the twisted Joker with the dark mind who sets out to seek dark people like himself, to play with the dark side of human nature and as Alfred says ' watch the world burn' and Harvey Dent played by Eckhart portraying the good-turn-evil to justify his misery and make the world pay for what he'd lost. It's all a different portrayal of the dark character by each individual and the characterization is as good as it gets. The little gestures, words that each character used serves to enhance his character development and the complex relationships btw the characters are quite coherent though it takes a very intelligent mind to follow through. If you're someone dull and not interested in human psychlogy and have trouble following stories unless it shows the obvious, then don't catch this one.

I love the action more in this one as well, esp the flying of the Batman down from high Gotham skyscrapers amidst a sultry night, calls for a picture of depth and solitude. And yes, the sequences with the Batpod. In one word, amazing. It leaves you breathless and wanting more.

Heath was good, he took the performance to the limits, but having heard rave reviews about his performance already, I wasn't surprised. The Joker was as real as he gets. He shone, but still I don't think he's that much greater than Christian Bale in Batman's role. Christian was both believeable and entertaining as billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne and even more amazing as The Dark Knight. He was the first actor who brought enough depth and justice to the Batman's role.

Another reason I like Batman is because this story is credible and feasible, unlike X-Men and Spiderman which takes mutations to work. Just imagine if someone in real life is as rich as Bruce Wayne and undergoes the training the he does, it's not impossible to create an extroadinary character like Batman.

So, my verdict is: go catch this one if you haven't seen it. If you love it, you'd definitely go back for more.

    I agree.

I was very surprised at how good Aaron Eckhart was as well. It's jsut that everyone raved about Heath, and barely anyone talked about Eckhart, but I thought he was great. I'll probably see this movie again.
