You know I never quite liked the roasted ducks from Chinese restaraunts. Either the ones I've gone to are cheapo restaraunts or the ducks that they have are just so freaking skinny, all ducks they have contain only fat, duck skin, and bones. Very little meat. Not the kind you get from roasted pork or soy sauce chicken.

I just happen to like ducks and I like Peking duck enough to make the exception. I didn't say I don't like fatty stuff though I general avoid fatty stuff as well. I don't like the taste of fried/oily/greasy foods so I general avoid them if I can help it. I eat like one real meal a day: some carbohydrates, some vegetables & tofu, some meat (poultry, fish, & minimal pork, no beef), some fruit and some red wine.
Foods that I hate?
-Coconut
-Peach
-Melon
-Caramel
-Mayonaise
-Crabs/Lobsters
-Olives
-Red/Green bean
and... that's all I can think of now.
Sometimes it's hard to love someone because you're so afraid of losing them.
Durians ... and anything that includes durian as an ingredient, e.g. durian cake, hard candy, soft/chewy candy (aka dodol), tempoyak (fermented durian), durian ice-cream, etc, etc ... you get the picture.

Dried Squid/Custard Caramel; it gave me a very bad stomach ache and complications for almost a week, when I traveled to VN to visit family. Not sure if it was because I ate Dried Squid straight after having the custard, or if it was because there was something wrong with the custard. I swear I'm not going to touch these two ever again!
And I happen to dislike Asparagus

While we're on the topic of DUCKS, Duck eggs taste better than Chicken Eggs.

Your post reminded me of an episode of that Travel Channel show Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern. There was a segment about durian where he actually ate some and spit it out immediately. He said that it was like eating something has bad BO(body odor) or something to that extent. The durian farmer looked pissed off at Andrew for spitting the durian out of his mouth.
Andrew Zimmern has eaten a lot of bizarre foods from bulls testicles, monkey brains, guinea pigs and yet he doesn't have the stomach for durian?
"You can't make the world come out right just because you want it that way."
i highly doubt that it was the custard. the chance of you getting salmonella from eggs is like 1 in 100 million. and in order or the eggs to hold to the shape of the custard, it would have to be fully cooked.
i'd guess that it was the dried squid. most ppl just leave squid outside in the hot sun to dry. so, all manners of insects and dust have contaminated it. plus, you're a lot more likely to get food poisoning from seafood than any baked product.

Durian is one of those foods where you either love it or hate it. I love them...my whole family does. I know a lot of people can't stand it...they say it's stinky. One time a cousin of mine was dared to eat some and she threw up immediately afterwards.
I wonder if you can develop some kind of tolerance towards it though.
Durian ice cream is absolutely delicious! Such a pity......
ummmmmm for me i would say i hate ......foie gras, fish, and wasabi.
why foie gras? cause it's just plain nasty.
why fish? cause i'm allergic to them.
why wasabi? cause it made me cry once.
I'd rather eat durians (despite thoroughly disliking it) instead of bulls' testicles, monkey brains, and all the other gross stuff that Zimmern has eaten.
I have. Initially, I couldn't even stand the smell, but as the years went by, I have come to the point of being able to buy durians (both whole/unopened and peeled/opened), open unopened fruits, serve the flesh and actually sit down with the people who are eating it in front of me.
Since you guys are talking about stinky food, have any of you tried "stinky tofu"? I heard my friend say that it smells like stinky feet, but once you get pass the smell, it will taste really good. I wonder if I will ever have the courage to try it??
Respect other people's opinions and views. If we learn how to do that than all of these fights and arguments will not occur.
But you still can't eat it right?
Actually I just remembered something. I can't stand eating those.......uhh....worm thingymajigs. Some type of larva or something fried in butter and such. I had one once and nearly hurled lunch, breakfast, and my midnight snack. Asians can eat the weirdest things sometimes.
