Default Is 2008 the year of the banana?

Lately, I've been seeing many people dressed up as bananas. I saw them at Anime Expo and at San Diego Comic-Con, and I saw one today promoting some kind of real estate sale.

At fan conventions such as Anime Expo and SDCC, it's not unusual to see people in costumes. But they usually dress as anime characters or superheroes, not as bananas. Dressing as a banana makes even less sense when selling land.

Is 2008 the Year of the Banana?

It may well be. I saw someone buying bananas from the shops the other day.

Banana's are good for your body and it's healthy. I eat it every two days or so; most people [elderly] are buying either between 2-3 banana's a day.

It's just that a banana is the fruit of choice and after the hysteria dies down, the watermelon is next in line.

I don't know about bananas...but where I live, jackfruits are the fad. Everyone's buying some and giving them off as gifts. *shrugs*

I recently heard that Europe have ditched their rules for dictating the shapes and sizes for fruits and veg. So before if a banana was "too bent" it gets thrown away! I thought maybe that's why ppl are dressed up in banana costumes to celebrate the change of rules. hahaha
