It's dangerous for kids who's bone is not set to be doing that stuff, obviously winning a gold is worth deforming a bunch of kids.

and forget about "I'm not convinced", it's true, some of those girls were at competition where age wasn't limit and used their real age, compare to the ones listed at the olympic some of those girls jump up 2 years in 1 year lol.

AND last olympic one of the chinese girls did an interview and slip out that she's underage when asked haha, they asked her how old and I think she said 14.

Ofcourse back then it didn't matter because china wasn't as strong, now it's a problem because china got the gold.
Uh...evidence? Article? All that talk is nothing w/o evidence mister.

US got silver. That girl Alicia fell too many times. I felt sorry for her though. The coach was so mean to her.

many girls tend to stop growing around 12. plus, these gymnists are so small anyways, i don't think age would play into gravity.

if it were true, there would be proof. people (esp the americans) would love to dig up the info, but they haven't yet.

Man one assumption to another, so what now? Chinese are risking innocent lives for Gold?!?!? outrageous. please don't further your assumptions buddy!

Overly exercising will stunt your growth, all countries are jeopardizing growth over gold, please include them if you plan to be righteous!!!!

Honestly, NBC freaking pisses me off. Just because they don't get gold, they don't show the awarding ceremony. For the men's they showed it. Or maybe they didn't because I watched CBC for that. But honestly, America got silver too, so lame of them to be such poor sports.

But hey, it's NBC, why am I even questioning it?

i think NBC did for the men's. but that's because they weren't expecting to be on the medal stand at all, so bronze was an accomplishment

oh...now you have to give NBC some credit. they're broadcasting it now.

like I said there's a reason why the standard was set at 16, or else it would have been free age.

Bottom line, if you believe those kids are 16 years old I don't know what to say. After you account in the "asian look young thing" those girls are at best 14 (i've seen the older on on the team and she's much bigger than the smaller ones).

Just to prove how size effect the competition, the smallest one in the US team is also happen to be one of the best performers on the team.

I call it like it is, I started watching olympics around 1996, this is so far the youngest groups of girls I see from the chinese (matter of fact the american also looks younger than last time, 1 or 2 of them look like they're under 16 but no where near as young as the china team).

Oh how wonderful. We have an age psychic on our forums. Somehow who isn't a professional with gymnastics, and yet is able to tell ages just based on appearance. Why do we need passports or official documents? Just get these "age specialists" to take one look and do a very great prediction. *rolls eyes*

There's a reason why most places need OFFICIAL documents and not "hearsay". There's such a thing called objectivity.

And you're gonna base your conclusion on the fact that THIS YEAR the youngest gymnast is the strongest, so the lower the age, the better the performance? Ha....awesome. Let's get 2 year olds on there right now. I'm sure we'll make a baby gymnastics team.

I think it's pretty hard since the chinese gov do the paper work. there are some small evidence that's not "usable" in a court since it's not really hard paper content. we all know these girls look young but there's a certain point where it's "too young".

And center of gravity does help, especially in a sport like this, the closer you are to the ground the better. I think the chinese's average weight/height is much lower than the american team.

They did show the ceremony. Rosie, cut NBC some slack. They're covering so many events that's happening at the same time that they will have to cut off some things such as showing some of the other teams.

So take the situation realistically and take it like a man (not just you, the US and whoever is making these claims).

You make a vicious attack at another country....sure, show the evidence. Don't have any? Then pretty much suck it up and stop complaining. In this sport and everything else, it's all based on eivdence.

If you can give me statistics right now, of a STRONG correlation between age and performance for Americans or the Chinese, then there's reason to talk. Not just based on your "theories" without evidence to back it up.

It doesn't really matter what anyone says..because chances are we'll never know anyways. If you want to believe they're 16 thats fine, if you want to be suspicious that they're underage thats fine too..

Basically the thing is..it's one thing "not to believe" or "suspect"/be dubious/bewildered, it's another thing to say that they "should not be there" or hint that they were cheating. You can't make attacks like that without evidence to back it up.

So, is it okay if I make up some affair between a coach and a judge just because they "looked friendly"?

so if they cheated and got away then it's ok?

Strong correlation? I don't know physics and I still understand the concept of center of gravity and it's effect. I don't care if these girls are transexual, made out of wood, or MJ clones, they're human, as far as I'm concern, everything on this earth follow the laws of gravity.

You don't see anyone complain about the chinese men team wining the gold, so this is not a hatred toward china, they just call it like they see it.

PS: the japanese team are also very small but still bigger than china by 1 in and 5 pounds on average. At this level of competition I would pull japan under the train for underage too, but because of the way their gov operate and paper keeping, there's a lesser chance of them cheating.

Like I said, this problem is spoted years before this, it's just happen that the US lost this year and they try to look into it lol. Sore looser? maybe, normal reaction? yeah.

Lmao, why is this SO DIFFICULT. No it is NOT okay. So these people who freaking care so much, THEY can go do the research in the girls' hometown if they're so inclined and try to dig up that dirt. BUT UNTIL THEY DO, they should basically shut up because they have no evidence. Making these claims are vicious and rude and unprofessional.

It's not really about the US vs. China anymore. It's about sportsmanship and professional broadcasting. No one could pin down Clinton for anything UNTIL they got evidence.

Basically, these people could get sued for defaming and tainting the girls and Chinese national reputation.

No not physics correlation. Statistical correlation showing me that YES, in > 100 cases, you see a strong regression coefficient when you plot age versus performance (based on point system). Can you do this? If not, then don't bother with that argument. A theory is only a theory until it is PROVEN in real life. Not just based on that one 16 year old girl on the US team.

    age VS performance?

how about this, plot me Age VS Size, then plot me Size VS performance, see if there's a correlation.

i don't know why you even argue, the dude that made the claim is a grown *** man who's been teaching gymnastic for decades, he probably saw more girl gymnast than you and me combine in the next few hundred years. he knows what he's talking about.

And I still don't understand why you would disregarding physics when you're talking about sports. All sports is really just physics lol, if you disregard physics you can do some crazy shit, unfortunately that ain't gonna happen as long as you're on earth.

how do you figure they dig it up? these girls are pluck out of their house at around 3 years old, the gov do all the paper work, they can make these girls 100 years old and the paper work is still legit.
