the lookalike couple is the usual plot-device that is used to offer some sort of relief-service for fans especially when main couple are not together at the end. Same thing also happen in Forbidden Kingdom or in My Sassy Girl although using a different technique.

I didn't find the relief because they are just not the actual persons.

Another tragic movies? someone died at the end? dunno if I can watch this, I still have the after effect of watching kim bo-ra died which is greatly affected me, but hey as I said, it's the journey to death that's count. Will try to look for this movie, hope it's worth it. Thank you for the info

I didn't watch C'est La Vie but I remember feeling sorry for the 1st generation couple in The Classic yet can't help scolding the hero for being stupid. He should really just marry the girl he loves.

Can I clarify something about Love Letter? The part where the hero was falling from the cliff, he was heard singing/humming/saying something (can't remember the details)...is there a purpose to his action?

    1. Romance:
Beauty and the Beast - sweet love story and beautiful music.
    2. Tearjerker:
The gods must be crazy - no, I'm not kidding, this is the only movie that has ever literally made me 'shed tears' - a result of laughing so hard.
    3. Emotional/Touching/Moving:
A perfect world (Kevin Costner & Clint Eastwood).
    日暮乡关何处是?烟波江上使人愁。

Tearjerker/moving stories and movies: Grave of the Fireflies (never knew something animated could make me cry), Life is Beautiful, and A.I. Artificial Intelligence.

Farewell My Concubine is also pretty depressing.

Oh my gosh, yes! I laughed so hard watching it, tears were flowing like a river. Thank you for the title BTW, I was looking for it.

Just google the title of the movie + torrent, you'll find plenty of pirated DVDRip versions.

I love that movie too!! The romance is sweet, Chow Yun Fat is very charimastic and I like Gordon Liu in it.

here another movies of my favorite:

It Could Happen to You - Nicolas Cage & Bridget Fonda
The Family Man - Nicolas Cage (the ending scene is soo sweet)

Thanks, but no thanks, I don't like pirated movies. I buy or rent my movies because I'm a quality nut.

It might be an odd one but no one's mentioned
    A Beautiful Mind
cried at the end when Russel Crowe's character was giving a speech thanking he's wife's dedication and love throughout his mental illness. It's may be hard to appreciate Jennifer Connelly's character's commitment to her husband when you don't under the condition (schizophrenia) that well.

Another surprising movie that made me tear up was
    Finding Neverland
    quite a sad ending
