Default Which wulin sect is most dysfunctional?

If you're part of a wulin sect, chances are it's dysfunctional on at least one of several levels: corrupt, ineffective, or absentee leaders, treacherous members or hypocrites, stolen martial arts skills or authority symbols, getting publicly pwned by opponents while holding down a huge reputation, internal struggles for power, sex scandals, etc.

So who wins the title of Most Dysfunctional Wulin Sect?

I don't know how the Emei sect was under GX, but I dislike them under Miejue.

Xiaoyao Pai. They were beyond repair.

Xiao Yao or Hua Shan. Hua Shan is involved in a few novels, and they always seem to have internal problems in them.

Considering half of Ancient Tomb is XLN and her disciple, and the other half of Ancient Tomb is Li Mochou and her disciples, and those two halves are bitter enemies, and half the time XLN isn't even on speaking terms with YG due to some ridiculous plot contrivance, and Li Mochou's disciples hate her and scheme against her behind her backs, I think Gumu is a really strong contender here.

At least the remaining students of Xiaoyao Sect were still loyal to the sect. Ancient Tomb had like 2 students left and Li Mochou has no attachment to the sect.

I don't think that was ever named as a sect, but just the 3 disciples of one teacher.

I'd have included Peach Blossom Island here as well, but I ran out of room. No takers?

Got to be some dysfunction in a martial arts school wherein the teacher cripples the legs of all his students on a whim.

    The obvious answer is Huashan.

Is there any clan that have so much problem??

Clan leader being a schemer and killed his apprentice brother in the years preceeding HSDS.

Clan leaders stealing other ppl's kungfu and tend split the clan in the years preceeding SOD

Qi faction lied and killed nearly all sword faction in the years preceeding SOD

Clan leader cutting off his own stuff, steal other ppl's martial arts and do other despicable things in the years of SOD

Clan having internal fighting in the years of Bi Xue Jian.

Hua Shan is the most consistently dysfunctional clan in the JY story over many many years.

Shaolin could give it a run for its money.

    1. Chief Abbot Yeun Chi fathered a bastard son (Hui Juk).

    2. Chief Abbot Yeun Chi was one of the key figures in the Ah Mun Gate Incident, which also led to downfall of Kiu Fung (among other things).

    3. Fireworker Monk Incident

    4. Cheung Gwun Bo/Gwok Seung/Gok Yeun Incident

    5. hypocrisy of (HSDS) Hung generation monks

    6. Sing Kwun

    7. hypocrisy of Dao generation monks

mount hua, the clan with the most scandals and treachery ever.

in HSDS, master of mt hua was a treacherous and skilless person.

prior to SPW, we have the brothersstealing sunflower manual, and then creating 2 factions out of their arguments. then entire clan slaughtered each other. after that we have yue bu qun.

Problems of the Xiao Yao Sect:

Clan leader loves twelve year old, leading to jealousy of his two martial sisters.

Martial sister steals virtually all the martial arts in the world.

A student and martial uncle plots to kill clan leader and take over sect.

Clan leader and his heir crippled by the pair.

Clan civil war for many decades before and during DGSD.

What's DCQ's sect called? Also Xiao Yao Pai?

If we count him as a continuation:
DCQ killing his martial brother Su Xing He
Su Xing He muting all his future students
DCQ's rules about heir is just screwed up - it's based on skill level than seniority, which turns the whole sect into a bunch of disjointed suck ups

Yes, but Huashan's downfall is a tragedy epic overy a couple hundred years.

Xiao Yao's over what 50-70 years.

For all we know, the Huashan sects of HDSD, SPW, and BXJ don't have anything in common besides being on the same mountain. As for why?

Xian Yutong in HDSD was the 133rd leader of the Huashan sect.

Yue Buqun in SPW was the 13th leader of the Huashan sect.

And none of the Huashan Sects have any common martial arts, unlike the other big sects that stretch across dynasties. All of this points to the conclusion that the Huashan sects of the different novels aren't related.

However, Shaolin is a major sect during all this period (excluding the LOCH/ROCH period).

Huashan went from one of the big six sect/clan in HSDS to nearly being swallowed into the 5 sword school in SOD, to only one of the other clan in PXJ.

    How the mighty have fallen.
