Lets see if NZ could get more medals than Canada.

Canada - 1 gold 1 silver

NZ - 1 gold 2 bronze

Damn, we were suppose to win the single skulls. Stomach bug resigned Drysdale to a mere bronze. We were expected to get 2 golds 2 bronze from rowing. We are expecting a silver (at least) in the veldrome individual pursuit and a medal in the shot pot.

How are the prospects looking for Canada in the 2nd week?

There will be the usual hand wringing about our Canadian athletes performances and nothing much will change by the next Summer Games. We simply under-fund our Olympic 'program'. As was pointed out in the paper today, Australia funds their Olympic program at about $8 per citizen. Canada manages about $1.20 per citizen. You can't go cheap and expect results.
