Default What was the source of Yeun Nan Ping's martial arts?

What was the source of the martial arts of Yeun Nan Ping from ROCH? She was not a very powerful fighter, but her repertoire of skills included the Iron Palm Technique, among other things.

Considering her surname, Yeun Nan Ping had connections with the former ruling family of the Jurchen Jin Empire. In LOCH, the Jin Empire had employed Iron Palm Union Chief Kau Cheen Yan as a mercenary. Is there a connection there?

On the other hand, when Yeun Nan Ping encountered Kau Cheen Yan (by then known as the monk Chi Yan) at Passionless Valley, the two were not acquainted with each other.

Probably taught by some unnamed offshoots of the Iron Palm clan, left to drift after Qiu Qianren followed Yideng. That said, her qinggong was supposed to be quite decent. From ROCH chapter 10.

The three then utilized their lightness kung fu and hurried to the
    southeast. The Ancient Tomb sect’s kung fu’s forte is lightness kung fu;
it could be classed as the world’s number one. Wanyan Ping’s martial
arts may not be anything special but her lightness kung fu was not weak.
How was it that the girl in blue green followed behind her without
breaking speed? When Wanyan Ping was going fast, she went fast, when she
slowed down, the girl slowed down, the gap between them remained
constant at one or two paces. Yang Guo was secretly surprised, “What
sect is that girl from? From her lightness kung fu, her skills are
higher than sister Wanyan’s.” He didn’t want to lead the two girls and
    so slipped to the rear.

Is it the Iron palm from the Iron Palm clan though? Iron palm is also a generic name for conditioned palms/fists.

When Yang Guo talked to Qiu Qianchi about having seen an Iron Palm master surnamed Qiu, he demonstrated Iron Palm techniques as gleaned from Wanyan Ping and Gongsun Zhi. When Guo Xiang fought Wuse in HSDS, Wuse recognised one of the stances as an Iron Palm technique.

WYP's family were jin royalty and her father had arranged for her to escape with lots of riches so she could live comfortably. her father's friends had arranged for her to learn martial arts from someone but that person was not an expert and could not give her much guidance. since QQR had become a monk around the time WYP was born, she could not have learnt from him but one of his disiples. iron palm clan had a lot of members but no experts other then qiu qianren. his followers were said by him as not having mastered their skills well after they were beaten by begger clan members. QQR should be WYP's grandmaster and GSZ her granduncle master.

Although neither one of them was aware of it, Yeun Nan Ping and Yeung Gor shared a "familial" connection through Jurchen royalty as well. After all, Yeung Gor's father Yeung Hong had also been known as Yeun Nan Hong, and through adoption, was a member of the Jin Empire's royal family.

They might even have been cousins and never known about it.

    It doesn't.
    Wanyan is 完颜.
完 as in "finished", and 颜 as in 颜色 ("colour").
So the correct Cantonese for Wanyan should be Yeun Ngaan (as in Ngaan Sik - colour).
