Default Why does my computer hate me?

It's not like I ever stole her lover (yes my computer's a she).

So starting a couple of weeks ago, I've been getting a lot of blue screens...like once every couple of days. My computer's shut down on me in the past, but never that frequently. It's quite inconvenient because I made this nice dandy linear regression graph on excel the other day, but then when my computer died and it didn't auto-recover.

Any suggestions as to where I should begin to explore the roots of my problem? Or what the common causes are? I originally thought it was because I didn't install XP Service Pack 3 (I was too engaged in my game of Spider Solitaire to restart at the time ) but that hasn't seem to have changed anything. Thanks and you're wonderful in advance.

She got tired of you correcting her grammar and blabbering on nothing

when was the last time you reinstall Windows?
I recommend a refresh of Windows and your core applications, and stop downloading porn

Usually when that happen, it will escalated and became worst. It's the sign of a failed .DLL or cluttered registry which is just sucks, well Windows sucks btw.

What I do is get the restore CD/DVD and do over again, refresh the machine, well assuming you do the backup when you got your computer the first time and do incremental backup from time to time. Lots of software can do this, sometimes it's already in the systems if you bought branded computer like HP or Lenovo. If that thing is not available use software such as FarStone DriveClone, Norton Ghost and Acronis True Image (I used this and I think it's the best).

Otherwise no other way, backup all important files, format the C drive and reinstall Windows.

I went thru a week of frequent shutdowns and then recalled that I had downloaded a security patch from MS Update just before the problem started. I removed it and had no problems. Then I got an email from Zone Labs saying that their Firewall program and that security patch had conflicts and an update of their software was required. After that download I had even more problems and ended up uninstalling the firewall and re-downloading the updated version. No problems since then.
Also I did re-download that security patch.

I stop using ZoneAlarm security suite when it keep blocking my broadband connection for no apparent reason and now I'm using ESET Smart Security and no problem since then.

Use a combination of DeepFreeze and Kaspersky Internet Security, and create a backup DVD, your comp will run smoothly until for years.
