She's 41 this year. She looks remarkably young for a 41 year old. I would've guessed that she's in her thirties.

The first series I've seen her in was The Road for the Heroes. She seems to be known for her comedic roles because she was also in Act to Act (1995), and it was a comedy series.

Elvina Kwong's first big break in the Hong Kong entertainment industry came in 1984, when she played the non-speaking titular role of the "Japanese 'Wa-Wa'" in the music video for Sam Hui's popular hit of that name.

For those who remember Kwong's debut, it's probably their lasting image of her.

i remember her! my first exposure to her was road for the heroes, and i adored her character (and her comedic timing). needless to say, i became an instinct fan. then buddhism plam strikes back arrived, and alvina was the reason i couldn't give catherine hong a chance for so long (i hated ching ching's character).

anyhow, i like her. she can act. she was also in working women where she played...

i just watched that video with sam hui. i don't understand chinese or japanese but i'm guessing he met her in japan on a holiday and liked her, he went out wit her and she spent all his money then her father came cos she's only 16 and a half. is this rite?

if it is its a bit odd since in the end she came looking for him anyway. wat man in their rite mind could not see she looks underage?!

It was a sort of lighthearted, comedic fantasy. Sam meets this cute Japanese girl who reminds him of those beautiful Japanese pop idols and begins fantasizing about how great it would be to marry her. He dates her, spending his dough, but ends up being confronted by her protective, aggressive father. Funny stuff.

I have this permanent impression of Elvina Kwong as a Japanese chick even though she isn't.

Later in the 1980s, Elvina Kwong became famous for her ENJOY YOURSELF TONIGHT comedy skits in the role of "Maria...The Filipina House Servant." Elvina wore blackface for this role, and admittedly, the role was conceived in bad taste by the EYT writers, and definitely had racist overtones, but HK audiences of the time loved it.

so tat was what it is. i saw clips but didn't know wat she was. sounds very racist. but i think nowdays alot of the jokes are quite racist, its really depending on how it is protrayed on screen.

like russel peters and his racist jokes, i found alot of them ofensive but alot of ppl don't.

i just watched road of the heroes. its so funny. Elvina is so cute and disgusting, i don't believe three girls few in love with 'him'. when 'he' is so foulmouth and such a brute. but supposedly he is very cute since he is a she, so i guess they were attracted to 'his' looks. she looks like a girl no matter wat to me.

The funny thing is I had completely forgotten that Elvina Kwong started her career as a pop singer. I remember that she did put out records in the mid-1980s, but I don't recall a single record she made.
