I don't feel that QKDNY is purely external. QKNDY contains a “心法“ (internal energy guide) in it.

After ZWJ mastered 9Yang, he had an abundance of raw strength in him, in which no one is on par with him (in terms of raw strength). He didn't know how to utilise it because he didn't have an expert around to guide him or give him pointers.

Upon reading QKDNY, he could unleash his abundance of raw strength for practical usage. (pushing the boulder, etc.)

yeah, now that i think about it some more, both you and extremer88 are correct, it is more of a guide on how to use internal energy than an internal energy cultivation manual...if anything i guess it can be compared to the external side of 9 Yin Manual...since 9 Yin has both the guide on how to use internal energy as well as internal energy cultivation method

going onto ZBT switching teams...thats unlikely...as his Vacant Fist has a similar logic as Taichi principle, and not sure if he did learn any formation from WCY himself, but it'd most likely have some similarities with what Z3F would come up, so its quite improbable that his curiosity to the Zhangs' martial arts would cause him to switch sides....
he'd be more drawn to the powerful martial arts that have that "bang bang" sound to them and be eager to find ways to break them

This was actually invented by GJ in the book. After learning L/R, he was practicing internal energy training when he thought "Why not try dividing my breath too?".

If anything, GJ is the true master since he's the one who thought about using it in a fight against a single target. He was also the only one to have engaged two separate internal energy contests with each hand but as two people working together against HYS's flute.
