Default Grave of the Fireflies (live action)

Just got to know this movie's existence last night.

Finished watching off youtube last night and it's great, brought tears to my eyes several times just like the anime did.

This movie was released in 2005 to commerate the 60th anniversary of WW2's end. Unlike the animation, the live action movie also tells the story from the 'wicked' auntie's POV, of why she did what she did to the siblings.

A highly recommended anti-war movie... and of course, there's Matsushima Nanako too.

The novel on which the film is based was apparently written in tribute to the author's little sister, who didn't survive the war, but died of starvation.

I couldn't finish the anime version because it was so bloody and depressing.
I heard that it is good though.

Hey, cartoon is cartoon, anime is anime, two different things , anime is specific to Japan only - an otaku speaking out!

    Whoops my mistake!
I'm not a big anime or cartoon fan so I thought that a cartoon was anything that was drawn.
