deng chao is not the best looking guy, but i have to admit, he has some charisma on screen.

Deng Chao is not that bad looking. Even when he's all black acting as Justice Bao, he still looks pretty good.

I felt the same way when I first saw Deng Chao in preliminary pictures back when he was cast as Bao Zheng in YJB 3, but changed my mind after I actually saw him onscreen. He's not the most photogenic guy around, but he does have screen presence. So, give him a chance. I'm just glad ZJZ isn't recycling the main male lead again ala Huang Xiao Ming or Li Ya Peng.

The director made this change because Yin Li is actually a beauty and as the female characters in HSDS are beauties, they must all look beautiful.

I went through the finalised cast list and i notice that Cheng Kun, Zhang Sanfeng and Fan Yao are missing from the list.

I agree... what is up with that?? I wonder if BXJ was good because ZJZ was not that involved in it?? Maybe he should hire the same director and producer that he did for BXJ and the series will be better.

Isnt the flower over the scar pointless? the girl who play YL in 2003 was beautiful even with the scar. I just hope they dont go overboard with the clothing, especially like the people in ROCH's Passionless Valley... what an eyesore. But then again, JY write as if every women in the world is pretty. Even ZZR's master was supposively a real looker back in the days.

Previous versions have Zhu-er as really pretty... the scar is almost a decorative feature on her face!

On favorite portrayal of Zhu-er, mine is from HSDS 2001, she played a very quirky Zhu-er, a little more comic than the usual intense Zhu-er we see- liked that interpretation quite a bit. It made Zhu-er stand out from the other girls!

thanks for putting up a pic of zhang meng. i think she looks like a zzr too. i didnt realize that deng chao is from the justice pao series.. he's not that bad even though i imagine zwj to be better looking. hopefully, his acting will make up for it.

Agree with you that it's lame. It will look weird too having a flower pasted on her face. What is ZJZ thinking? Why must they all look flawlessly beautiful? Isn't Zhu-er supposed to be beautiful but the scar made her no-so-beautiful? So, what's wrong with her having the scar?

I agree that replacing the scar with a flower is silly! I wonder how they're going to do that, probably paste a fake tattoo on her face. She can't possibly walk around with a real flower popping out from her face!

Anyway, more info revealed by ZJZ yesterday:

1. There will most probably be 3 actors for the role of ZWJ. The young ZWJ will be played by the same child actor who acted as the young Kangxi in the latest DOMD. The actor for the teenage ZWJ is not confirmed yet and the adult ZWJ will of course, be played by Deng Chao.

2. ZJZ's XAJH invited a lot of displeasure from the audience when he made female lead, Ren Yingying come out much earlier than she was supposed to. Not learning from past mistakes, ZJZ is going to do the same thing for Zhao Min in this series. He cited "script necessity" as the reason for doing so.

3. As opposed to past adaptations, none of Yin Susu's scenes will be cut and the series will portray the whole period when she first appears till her death. This will take around 5 episodes.

4. As Deng Chao is new to Wuxia filming, although he is attempting to execute several stunts by himself, he will still have a stunt double. The main weapons for the series, the heavenly sword and dragon saber have already been created and to allow for easier filming, there will be 4 sets of the weapons for each of the filming groups (Im assuming there're 4 film groups working on the series simultaneously).

Deng Chao's injury is not serious

DC recently hurt his eye are while practicing his fighting stunts. Apparently, as he clashed with his opponent, the latter's wooden sword hit his eye area and the open injury required 2 stitches. When reporters called him today, his manager answered and told them that Deng Chao's injury is not serious and he is actually going to remove the stitches today. With the help of make-up, filming will not be delayed and he should be able to attend the series's press conference held this saturday.

Compared to the struggling Deng Chao, He Zhuoyan and Ady are having an easier time with the training. As both actresses have some experience with Wuxia serials, they are able to pick up the martial moves with ease, especially HZY, who loves martial arts. Although her character doesnt need to be highly skilled, HZY is still interested in learning new moves and joined the other cast during training sessions.

New actor for Yang Xiao

Nathan Chan, the original actor for Yang Xiao, will be replaced by veteran HK actor Kenneth Low, reason being that Nathan has a skin allergy and cannot wear a wig or fake mustache, which is required for his character.

Btw, the martial arts they're learning looks like Tai Ji. The Wudang expert is the one in white and the rest are the cast members, probably those acting as Wudang sect members.
