Is the costume designer blind or just plain dumb? Nothing about this look spells ZM for me. Especially the hairstyle...Ady honestly looks more like a tribal maid than a Mongolian princess!! The whole colour scheme is messy and unattractive and makes Ady look alot older than she really is. I dont even want to talk about her haristyle..what is with the stupid scarves?? Is she supposed to be a gypsy wanderer or smtg??

Liu Jing actually looks like a fairy next to Ady. The contrast is aesthetics is simply too great. Makes me wonder whether the costume designer handed Ady the wrong outfit or whether he/she is out to destroy Ady's portrayal of ZM.

LJ actually looks pretty good from certain angles. At least ZZR's outfits are decent and tolerable.

This look seems better but still...a far cry from anything a royal princess would look like! If they really must force Ady to wear those costumes, at least give her a decent hairstyle!! The scarf really makes her look like some peasant woman!

Contrary to ZJZ's displeasure, I actually think ZWJ's outfits are pretty decent. ZJZ should reject all of ZM's costumes and demand for better hairstyles!!

Im not sure..probably some character from Ming Cult. I think ZCS probably looks the best out of the male characters, alot cleaner and neater than ZWJ. Actually I find ZWJ's costume pretty decent, just that DC will probably look nicer with a different hairstyle. The worst-looking character has got to be ZM. I really really hope they change her outfit and hair to something prettier, more elegant and sophisticated-looking. Or if the costume-designer insists on using this look, I hope its only for a few scenes. Because of the disastrous outfits/hair, ZM doesnt even look half as good as ZZR. At this rate, its really hard to believe that ZWJ actually thinks ZM is more beautiful than ZZR. I was prepared for something plain and ordinary but not something as outrageous as this! I dont understand this, ZJZ's female leads have always looked good (with the expection of DOMD) but this...

BTW, i just read that the outfit Liu Jing wore to the press conference today is supposed to be worn after ZZR becomes leader of E'mei Sect. Perhaps that's why she looks more matured. She'll probably look younger and sweeter for the earlier bits.

We need to slap ZJZ and all of the costume designers, they are out there to destroy Ady . I'm having the same feeling w/ Patricia now, I think since LJ's company endorsed so much on this project, they make her looks pretty w/ decent outfit, while Ady looks horrible. She looks like a Mongolian commoner rather than a princess. LJ looks too old for her age, and it wouldn't look right while Ady as ZM is looking youthful so they forced her to wear that hideous purple fur to make her look old so it seem right along w/ LJ

The costume Liu Jing wore is already approved by ZJZ though Deng Chao's ZWJ costumes have been rejected by ZJZ (maybe not every single one but perhaps a few). As for Ady's costumes, there has been no mention whether ZJZ approved of her costumes except that he likes her male costume alot. I really hope he rejects her mongolian outfits because they seriously do not match ZM's character!

On the other hand, many characters such as Xiao Zhao, Zhu'er, Yang Buhui, Ding Mingjun etc were not present in costume because their costumes were either not approved or not ready yet. The actress for Ding Minjun told reporters that the costumes worn during the conference are the ones who have met approval from ZJZ. Which means...Ady's probably stuck with that awful outfit/hair. If there's really no hope of changing her Mongolian outfits, they'd better have nice Han outfits in store for her.

It really does seem like they're rushing too fast and doing a mediocre job with the costumes. I mean, it looks like many costumes are not even ready yet. Why do i have a feeling that not much effort has been put in especially for ZM's costumes? Her hairstyle looks like something I could easily do up in less than 5 mins.

That's simply absurd! At least XLN was supposed to be the most beautiful woman in the novel and the sole female lead, hence its understandable they try to beautify the character as much as possible. But shouldn't ZM deserve similar treatment as well? Afterall, she's also the female lead and is supposed to be at least equal to ZZR in terms of beauty! I really dislike it when costume designers spoil the character's image just because of some disastrous costume/hair. This has never been the case for ZJZ's female leads before. RYY, HR, WYY, XLN, WQQ/A9 all had very decent, if not, pretty costumes and eventhough Ah Ke's costume looked rather plain and mediocre, it was still decent and "normal".

According to one report i read, Ady expressed delight at her costume and says she likes it alot. Well..good for her if she means it but seriously, even if she dislikes the outfit, she cant possible complain about it to the press can she?

I'm starting to be convinced by Pat's reasoning actually. Afterall, ZJZ was not keen on Ady being ZM in the first place...sigh i guess im just too disappointed. Eventhough i did try to keep my expectations low, I simply did not expect ZM to look like a washer woman.

I think Ady is being sweet and polite. I guess she's a newcomer to HY Brothers so it's best to keep her mouth shut . I agree w/ you sunny, it will be painful to see someone beautiful walk around w/ horrendous clothes on, let's hope Ady's acting will shine on this series....

Another disadvantage to Ady, she's Taiwanese being cast as the lead; while ZJZ didn't want her to be ZM in the first place. I guess that kinda answer our questions about her "costumes".

Yep, that's it. It started around 9:30 and ended at 10:30, but it took almost 30 minutes for the whole cast to gather for it to begin.

looks like ady's already brushed aside in zjz's mind since he didn't get his way. he initially wanted her as xz then later as zzr, but never main lead.

as for roch, i never understood why lyf had such fancy outfits as xln when the novel (from what i understood) stated that she was beautiful despite all of her simplicity. 2008 xln's outfits were anything but simple. and i felt that the costumes for the other female characters were disastrous and what with the crazy hair do too. it was too painfully clear to me that they wanted to make her beauty stand out as oppose to loch's hr. i always thought hr is suppose to be the most beautiful character in the novel, but shui ling was more stunning than zhou xun (who was very cute in that series), but you don't see the effort placed into making hr the most beautiful character. so again, i just feel that more emphasis and effort is given to the promoted actresses. in dgsd, none of the actresses were really favored hence most of the actresses had good costumes. same for xajh...there was no promoted actresses and for domd. and same for loch and for bxj.

it just seems that once zjz wishes to promote a particular actress then all of the other actresses in that series are suddenly neglected.

i wish i wasn't so negative, but i jus feel that this has been the case for any of his favored actress.

i had little expectations for zm's costume as well. but when i compare ady's zm to alyssa's zm in the wardrobe department, it makes me scream. ady's princess outfit resembles alyssa's commoner outfit. that is an insult to zm as a princess.

i didn't see the video successfully. it cut 2 minutes into the clip (even when i tried to repeat it). so i couldn't judge liu jing for myself. however, since vivi and sunny both give her thumbs up while she's in action, i will keep any bad comments regarding her pictures to myself. however, ady's costumes are just bad, sad, and un-rad.

zwj just needs a cleaner hair cut.

oh, on another note, a wuxiasociety forum member thinks that it may be a tough call between liu jing, gyy, and kathy chow in regards to who is the best zzr. so there's hope yet for liu jing. =)
