Do you like scary stories including stories in movies?

Personally I hate them because I hate being scared.

I myself like being scared and watching scary movies, although I still use my fingers to cover the view when something scary is coming out, or mute the sound completely just to prevent the shock. Watching hundreds of movies already, I just can guess when all the scene will coming out.

I don't know why but I find scary stories quite interesting.

In scary movies, they usually make them so that things pop out when you least expect it.

I don't mind reading scary literature, but I don't like scary movies. Mostly because what passes for "scary" these days seems to require lots of gore and people being dismembered in horrible ways and I hate that.

I like scary movies except for the ones that are extremely violent like as sniffles described it.

i like scary movies, even the really gory ones. most don't stay with me. ie, i'll think it's scary when watching it, but i'm not the type of person to think about it afterwards and be too scared to go to sleep.

i AM scared of scary books and things like that. especially the ones that are "based on a true story."

I am an avid horror fan. I like horror books, horror stories, horror movies, horror games... I love to be scared as long as I'm safe...;-)

As for gore - I love that too. One of my favorite film directors is Lucio Fulci...;-) Films like that don't bother with intellectual stuff and go straight for your sense of self-preservation and fear of pain. The terror of the inevitable is just as good as the good old fear of the unknown. (And when they succesfully join forces - that's even better...;-))
It would of course be a huge pity if ALL horror films looked like Argento, Fulci or Deodato... But I'm glad and grateful that all those wonderfully disgusting flicks do exist...

I used to be a horror trashbin. But my interest in horror has died down in recent years. Nowadays I don't even feel like watching horror movies anymore.

Horror novels are all right for me though. I used to love buying/reading horror/thriller books due to my now ex-interest...

I suppose I now prefer happier stuff.

Uhmm, is that means you also like Hostel (1 and 2). Ugghh, that show is super gross, even I can't stand to watch it, and I'm a guy. For gross horror, my favorite is the Saw series.

Haven't seen Hostel but planning to, some day...
(I wonder if it's going to be worse than the last 30 minutes of Odishon...)
It's not my priority, though - no time for that now; I'd much rather focus on Italian gore and gialli. There's still a whole lot of movies I haven't seen. Another area I'd like to explore a bit are Thai, Korean and Japanese horror films...

Hahaha, Odishon, not even close, that one got the wire-saw I admit which is scary and also gross, but Hostel, it is just the worst kind of gross, they got everything in there. Hostel is what they called a torture porn film, very-very bad.

In the first Hostel, they even have Takashi Miike doing cameo

As for Odishon - not exactly graphic or gross compared to some other films, but the *sadism* was quite terrible. And I personally had more trouble watching what she was doing with the needles than with the wire-saw thing...
I'm not saying that Hostel can't be worse, though...;-)

Yeah, in case if you're watching it (Hostel II), don't watch the ending hehe

"This film is creepy and weird for the first 45 minutes," Roth told Interview, "but it doesn't get gory until this one scene that's so horrific and graphic that it punishes the audience. There should be a moment where people are passing out and throwing up and storming out in protest."
    .

    Eli Roth is the director

i liked the first hostel. 2 was just all right. kinda predictable, and imo, more tame than the first one. hostel 1 was one of the few gory movies where i actually turned my head during one part: eyeball.

i actually prefer the hills have eyes (first one). i got more into it and was cheering for the good guys. fav part: when the dude killed a guy by stabbing him through the neck with an american flag. yay good old US of A! woot!

You mean the original Wes Craven one or the remake. Yeah I also like the remake, the first one not the one with the Army. I kinda like how the protagonist kickass at the end killing all those mutant bastard.

I also like Wrong Turn, the first one, the one with Eliza Dushku. That is also badass.

So you just ok without any reaction with the ending of Hostel II, the one involve the dog, when I saw that, I'm like - ewwwww. That's just super gross - haha.

    Default Mr. Vampire

The only scary movie I could ever watch is the Mr.Vampire series because it was also a bit of a comedy and I was still a little scared of that.
