James Bond: Quantum of Solace

I watched the new james bond movie quantum of solace yesterday and i find it not as good as the previous movie.

Somehow i find that Danniel Craig looking like a mother funker who is full of bleed and wound and not at all suave as a james bond is wont to be. The bond girl is pretty however.

The plot is kinda pointless a fair bit, and the actions are pretty mediocre imho.

James bond is turning into Jason Bourne.

I thought the film took itself too seriously, which can be a problem since Bond films are supposed to be fun to watch. I know that the current creative team wanted to take Bond in a grittier, more serious direction since CASINO ROYALE, but this was almost too much of a good thing. So much of what makes James Bond work wasn't evident.

In preparation for QoS, I've been watching a host of 007 movies recently, some for the first time, others revisiting.

The last Bond movie, Casino Royale, is the best I've seen. The one before that, Die Another Day, is just about the worst I've seen, turning into a dumb generic action flick and having THE WORST Bond Girl of all time (with zero chemistry between she and Bond).

I'm going to watch On Her Majesty's Secret Service and License to Kill next, since those 2 are usually considered 2 of the most authentic Bond portrayals.

Quantum of Solace was a very entertaining movie, but plot-wise, Casino Royale was better.

And one need to watch Casino Royale, or else one will just be clueless as what is going on. The action is intense which I like, everything is done to the extreme and Bond is feels like Bourne. Even the story is like that, very fast and globetrotting every minute. It's just strange that Bond never broke a single bone in his body after and intense action scene like that. He is a super human, no doubt about it. Even Bourne can feel pain. Bond is not. He just ready to dispatch someone instantly after he is done with the previous one.

Although most of his dialogue with M is funny - kah-kah.

If you guys read the Matarese Circle by Ludlum, Quantum organisation is more or less like the Matarese organization, creating and controlling government all over the world.

I think Quantum will be set as the global terrorist/criminal organization like Ernst Stavro Blofeld's SPECTRE in the subsequent movies. Well Mr White and all the the rest of the Quantum members are still alive and at large

I don't understand how so many people love Casino Royale that much. I thought a big chunk of it, particularly the long gambling part, was excruciatingly boring. I also don't like Daniel Craig, especially not when he has no shirt on; he's way too buff for a James Bond. Craig looks like a brute instead of the suave and sophisticated secret agent I used to recall. Plus, I thought the bond girl was kinda weird. Many say she's very beautiful, but she repulses me for some reason.

I pretty much like all James Bond movies except On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Die Another Day (the worse Bond ever) and Casino Royale. I don't think I'll be seeing Quantum of Solace because I heard it's more like a Jason Bourne movie and I'm not a fan that series.

Ok just one question. What is the Quantum of Solace? That question came up with about all 6 of us the moment the end credits started to roll. I don't think the phrase "Quantum of Solace" was used to refer to the organisation Quantum?

i think they are starting the franchise over with daniel craig. He is getting into the smooth and suave bond that u guys are talking about later. I think they trying to show how and why he acts like how bond is in the older movies. Comparing the ending part of the movie when he went to russia and the rest of the movie I can see some changes and development of Daniel Craig's bond.

The title originally refers to the measure (quantum) of consolation (solace) required for a relationship to be successful. In this movie, it is Bond's emotional state; he's looking for a sense of consolation after losing his love; without this sense, he's incomplete. At the end, it seems he finally found (some) peace with himself.

hey Dear!!! I also saw Quantum of Solace last day but its not too much bad as you said. Its quite good movie. I love this because its an action movie.

Quantum of Solace sounds like eschew obfuscation from back in high school, fitting title when someone else explains it

Anyways good movie overall - a rugged Bond is better than a suave Bond in my book. It is very reminiscent of Bourne though.

i quite liked it. i also quite liked casino royale, but i do admit it is very different than the old bond movies. less cheese-tastic. more gritty, as someone mentioned. but then, if you look through the decades, every "set" of bond movies are very different from the others. and the ones which aren't, venture into the lame and over-stereotyped.

Quantum of Solace refer to two meanings, one as specified by Uncle ICEMAN LOL - means only a smaller amount of peace, but still indeed peace to Bond.

The other one is the introduction of the worldwide criminal organization replacing the old SPECTRE, this time this organization is call Quantum

The more older Bond movies I watch, the more I like QoS. The old movies are a joke, formulaic & comic book-like, hardly like the real Bond as written in the novel. I'm glad we have Timothy Dalton and Daniel Craig's more realistic portrayals of Bond.

You should watch some of the earliest ones, like Dr. No and From Russia With Love. Quantum of Solace is much more like the earliest Bond films than it is like the middle period, especially the Roger Moore era.

I thought QoS was enjoyable, but not as enjoyable as Casino Royale. There was a little too much hugger-mugger going on - too much globetrotting, too many chase scenes. What made Casino Royale good was the exploration of the character of Bond. They didn't take time to do much of that in QoS.

I did like it that he didn't end up in bed with the South American girl agent, for a change. I also liked the way Bond cold-bloodedly advised her on how to take revenge. I hope they develop that aspect of Bond's personality more in the future.

I thought the girl in From Russia With Love fell in love with Bond way too easily. I cringed when she kept saying "oh please make love to me, James, I need you so much" in the tape. I find the early Bond movies (all of them up till Casino Royale) just lack characterization, that's what I meant by comic book-like.
