What do you guys think of Deep Ng? The guy actually won a singing competition, right?

Don Li is not bad and he can compose songs. Just that the songs his music company give him to sing is not suitable for him. I've heard him sing some old songs and he's pretty good.

Have checked out Rannes Man (文恩澄). Doesn't sound very good singing live leh. When she sings high note, she sounds like cannot reach or something.

I'm a bit surprised that Eric Suen hasn't been mentioned yet. He's a versatile singer-composer, mostly lauded for his passionate rendition of love songs. Creatively, he likes to experiment with R&B and rock elements as well. Some clips to share here to demonstrate his vocal range, creativity and control:

MTV of his comeback duet with Stephanie Che in "Perfect Match": 再見亦是戀人 (romantic)

MTV of his hit song from his album "So Far So... Close": 自愛 (romantic)

Live performance of the Mandarin version of his composition (music) from his album "So Far So... Close": 爱她因为爱你 (romantic)

    Welcome Sugar.

Thanks silversnowflake. I'll check out the youtube ones.

Found out a new HK band. They were interviewed in RTHK (there's were I get to know of them). Not a mainstream band. Their name is Juicyning (朱淩淩).

You can listen to their interview if you want.

Deep has a nice charming voice. Why isn't he more successful?

Yes. Gem is a force to be reckoned with. Saw her live performance of Where Do U Go on the piano. She is getting better and better. Her earlier renditions of diva songs by Whitney, Celine and Beyonce are a little too thin but I think she is getting better control of her vocal instrument with experience and her voice is fuller now.

Can the divas of the past like Teresa Carpio, Frances Yip and Jenny Tseng help this girl succeed? She has the range too. Watch her hit the whistle register in her rendition of Loving You.

Emil Chau Wakin is actually from Hong Kong too. He left for Taiwan in his teens to further his studies.

Anyone has more info on these 2 guys. They sing very well.

Keith Wong Hoi Chun (王凱駿) & Alex Wu Kai Wing (扈佳榮)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMqlE3jStlM

I only know Keith is the winner of the 2004 EEG New Talent Singing Competition but only manage to release an album called 'The New Man (優秀男聲)' with Alex Wu this year.

Just found out Alex Wu participated in the 2007 EEG New Talent Singing Competition but don't know what placing he got.

    Gem is good.

Based on youtube (one to two songs to test out the artists below), I think those with potential are:

    Terence Tsui
    Albert Chau
    Det

Oscar Siu has some appeal but badly needs to improve on his breathing technique/support. His notes are weak.

One main problems with Hong Kong pop is the lack of creativity. The songs sound almost the same.

    Louis Cheung 張繼聰
    Terence Tsui 小肥
    Albert Chau 周吉佩
    Det 狄易达

I'll check out Oscar Siu (蕭潤邦) too.

Just listen to an RTHK radio show where the host Albert Au invite people to come to his show to sing live. It's interesting because some of the people invited are not professional singers and you wouldn't get to hear them sing often.

The one I listen to yesterday has Nat Chan as guest. It seems that he's releasing an album. He has an interesting voice and he's really can sing. I like his voice.

    This is the radio show

    This is Nat Chan's episode.

    http://www.rthk.org.hk/rthk/radio2/r.../20081005.html

Interested people better listen to it soon. It's last year's program. Won't stay for long.

One of the song in his album.

    Terence Yin is also good.

I really like Kay Tse. This video is so impressive to me...

Can someone help me identify this song? I know its supposed to be an HK classic by the 4 Heavenly Kings. I need the song title.

    http://www.tudou.com/programs/view/i_02wn3eF4c/

Its sang by Kay on 2:35 after Charlene and before Denise.
