I loved the pacing as well, but I wished they didnt have to sacrifice everything except for the Fire and Ice Island storyline. Which, by the way, was gorgeous, except for that brief moment where Xie Xun was shown prancing around with the Dragon Sabre sans CGI. It made the actor look really silly, at no fault of his own, and reminded me of The Lightsaber Kid on Youtube. Whoever did the editing should have put a lot more effort into this...
Back to the main point...
I have no idea what is happening to the other storylines. Here is what I have so far:
- JXF passes this other guy on a horse, they make eye contact. (I assume this is supposed to be Yang Xiao?)
- ???
- JXF back at Emei (?!), somehow pregnant, and apparently she knows the name of the guy who passed her on the horse (if that was indeed YX)
Did I miss something? If I recall correctly, in the novel what occurred was glossed over as well, and what happened is explained by JXF to her shifu...so I hope this is what they are going for. I have no doubt that the actor and actress worked really hard on their scenes, and it would be a shame to have it all cut out.
I know this version is for those who are familiar with the story (hence the pacing), but this is just ridiculous. If they assume that we know the story so well that everything but the main character's scenes are cut, why do the remake at all? There's no raison d'etre for yet another remake.

Ok, so they never did show the Ji Xiao Fu and Yang Xiao moments. I was wondering if I had missed or fallen asleep somehow those moments when I say Ji Xiao Fu thinking in her head about her child and Yang Xiao. I always liked that couple. I even skipped around to find where I might have missed it.
Yea, I agree with the rest of the people that the kid is super annoying. Also does anyone else find the end theme song sort of wierd song for HSDS, it was weird to see it played after the last scene in eps 6. I'm used to in series when something so sad or dramatic happens they try to keep the mood sad by playing a sadder or more dramatic music.
I also thought it was odd how when Yin Susu was running to Zhang Cui Shan on the stairs she fell like three times on each shot that went back to the group running. I thought once would have been enough, three times was a bit much for me.
hi, just wondering when the DVD version, or else whatever format HSDS will be released in, will come out? Will they wait until the drama is finished on TV? And, is there any other site which the show is being uploaded on, like Youtube, because it takes a billion years for the video to load on Baidu etc.
I'm seriously appalled at the way the authorities censored the use of "Shaolin" in the series. Every time Shaolin is mentioned by the characters, some random male voice will just dub over the original dubbing with silly replacement words like "my sect", "their sect", "the monks". WTH?!? And Shaolin Sect plays a major role in this story, especially towards the end. Can't imagine how horrible its going to sound like then. I read that the censors are only applied to the versions that are aired on TV though so hopefully the DVDs won't have such a stupid problem. Apparently they might also censor the use of "Mongolian" (due to the sensitivity of ethnic/racial minorities in China) which is seriously going to destroy the whole series.

I think someone said the DVDs are going to be out in next month. Not sure when though.
Oh that is just ridiculous. Do the censors not realize that by doing it, they're bringing even more attention to it?
Yeah, hopefully the DVDs will be clean. And I really wish ZJZ would release an uncut version on DVDs.
does anyone know if there will be a team subbing this for viikii.net
Why on earth are they doing that?! How is Shaolin offensive to anybody?
I'm hoping there aren't more CG glitches like the one with Xie Xun, or if there are they get fixed for the DVD release. I can overlook the occasional wire visible or car tire tracks on the ground, but being able to see the greenscreen seems like a glaringly huge flaw to me. It sounds like ZJZ & co. really rushed this series through post-production.Originally Posted by j2j2j2

I've been waiting for this drama for a long time, and it's finally here! I watched the first few episodes and they're okay, but I am anticipating Deng Chao and Ady's acting in later scenes. Hopefully this series won't be disappointing!

I had to skip most of episode 8 to finish it. I hated this part in the novel too, so it is to be expected. Man at this rate, we won't see a grown up ZWJ until episode ten at the earliest, even than they have to skip stuffs for it to be possible. The story does not even get interesting until after ZWJ learned 9 Yang. All this in between the parent's death and ZWJ learning 9 Yang is just very very boring. They are just using too much time on this. Please going faster.
Sunnysnow, I'm afraid to let you know that DVD version will also have that strange random voice replacing "Shaolin". DVD's editing will have no difference from TV version. About this, I've asked the DVD company myself.
You're right. I can't imagine how horrible its going to sound toward the end of this series. This is a tragedy!!!! Guys, I wanna cry.
Can someone put the Baidu links for ep 1&2 so I can dl them with Real Player? I can't grab the toudu versions. I'm grabbing baidu's 3&4 now so any baidu links would be appreciated.
Thanks

After watching the first 8 episodes, all I want to do is choke that little kid to death for being annoying as hell. Although there is a lot of importance on the start of HSDS to set up the "scene", that kid bugs me like hell.
Also, I hate it when they use CGI and it looks fake, ala first scene in first episode with the fake birds or in episode 7 or 8 with the fake butterflies. It looks so stupid.
Anyone kind enough to point out episode 10 to me, please? I can find episode 9 without any problems, but can't find 10. I don't know any Chinese. I'm just watching this based on older versions and the novel, so it hard to find all these episodes.
Did anyone know when in Nov the DVD release. I have a friend in HK right now. Just see if it available in HK in Nov.
