Ughh, I've lost all of the links for all of ZWJ girls in different outfits, oh well, let's recap all of the clothes ZM have then. I've collected all of the pix of 3 other girls, ZZR, XZ, Shu Er, then it was too many links/images, then spcnet didn't let me post it, somehow I lost it, I'm not going back to dig for those links again, you guys are stuck with ZM, kekekeke.

    ZM:

Still waiting to see her tribal outfit from head to toe, credit to SunnySnow to all of the pix/news/links

It seem like XZ and Shu Er only has 2 outfits though. XZ has one olive/beige with curly hair, and 1 Persian attire, Shu Er has 2, one blue, and other one with brown fake leather all around, I think. I could be wrong, because based on all of the pictures Sunny had post, I only see those 2 actresses has 2 outfits. It's ZZR and ZM that have many wardrobes, so far Ady have worn 7 or 8 of them already, but none of them are stunning. We haven't see an upclose of how her tribal attire looks like yet, only the hair with headband.

ZZR has a many outfits change and with different hair too, hell, she still looks old no matter what

About the attention/publicity part, I'm not sure, since Ady/ZM is the main lead, she will have more screen time, whether fans or anti-fans like it or not. We will see who really shine when the final product is release, maybe next year

Maybe Ady doesn't have good connection with ZJZ? She had rejected 2 or 3 of his offers before to work on her other uninterested projects... Or maybe luck is not by her side...But I'm still happy that she's is ZM, let's hope this will be a big break for her
I think maybe ADy isn't on ZJZ's good side yet. So much details and attention is put on XZ, from her contacts, her curly hair, persian clothes.. I think this adaption emphasize XZ's unique beauty a bit more

I figure the Ming Cult people have been living in China for a long time and have probably intermingled with Chinese people so they don't necessarily look like Persians. And back then Persians didn't necessarily look like Iranians do today, either.

I'd be surprised if the other female leads didn't have more costume changes. ZJZ's shows all seem to involve lots of costume changes.

The Ming Cult members in the mainland were different from the ones from Persia. In the novel, the Persians were described to resemble westerners (golden hair, blue eyes, bigger built etc.) Dai Qi Si (Purple dragon) and Xiao Zhao, who both had Persian blood, were also described as foreign beauties with features very different from the usual Han Chinese lady (blue eyes, high nose bridge, snow white skin etc).

I also think the costumes department put it more effort for Xiao Zhao's looks, or it seems that way. Although Xiao Zhao only has 2 costumes/hairstyles, they're both very pretty and intricate-looking, especially the beaded vest she wears most of the time (for her main outfit). However, I guess Persian and Mongolian styles are rather different. I think the former has to look stunning and very exotic whereas ZJZ probably expects the Mongolians to look less intricate and more powerful and "tough"? That's the image I get of the Mongols in his LOCH'03 though they could have put in more effort to make Ady look more stunning in her tribal outfit of course.

In addition, I don't think ZJZ is biased against Ady or favors her less than the other actresses. ZJZ has always been fond of He Zhuoyan but he seems to have shown his liking for Ady recently and has praised her on a couple of different occasions for her performance as ZM. In fact, he recently stated that he finds her a very good and professional actress and told her that he will invite her to play a character in his next production "Journey to the West", which is scheduled to start filming in mid-July this year.

Although I too find ZM's outfits and hairstyles not stunning and beautiful enough, it is, imo, quite decent on the whole. Perhaps my expectations have dropped drastically after the wardrobe disaster seen during the start of filming. But I've sort of gotten used to seeing ZM in her cool male outfits and female getups. They may not be as elegant-looking as ZZR's or as stunning and intricate-looking as Xiao Zhao's but they do possess some sort of "Xia Nu" flavor and perhaps thats what they're going after for ZM in this adaptation- a cool and tough warrior-like princess instead of a classy and girlish-looking one. Afterall, Ady did mention before that she's rather tomboyish in real life and wishes to inject some of this characteristic into her portrayal of ZM. Also, it may only be me but i notice that ZM's Han outfits (the purple and red-white ones) don't look as "Han Chinese" as the outfits donned by the other female characters. Instead, they look a little foreign/tribal (fiery/flowery embroidery, bright and rich colors) as well. Not to mention that ZM's wardrobe possess the biggest variety/range of outfits- from suave male disguises to royal-like female outfits to simple Jianghu-like traveling clothes (coupled with cool-looking boots).

I've posted this link a page back which contains some pretty shots of Zhu'er
    http://www.wdsdq.com/wudangnews/Show...eID=541&Page=1

So far, the character only has 2 outfits which i think are rather nice and appropriate-looking. Only complain i have is the silly hairstyle which makes Zhu'er look abit bonkers.

I don't like Zhu'er's brown outfit, or the white boots she's wearing with the blue outfit. But at least she has more than one costume. I've been watching The Spirit of the Sword recently and the character named Zhu'er in that series has one costume that she wears all the time. Ew!

I hope you are right SS. ZJZ tends to favor certain actors/actresses.. and they seem to move on and leave him ( HXM, LYF) and don't want to collaborate with him.

Well, most B-list actors tend to use ZJZ as a stepping stone to bigger fame and fortune. ZJZ's productions are also famous for its grueling hard work (in harsh conditions), miserable pay and full commitment during filming (no leaves for attending functions, filming ads etc for extra cash on the side). Hence, I'd think most A-list actors would prefer making bigger bucks by working on less-demanding projects. At least HXM repaid the favor by acting as Wei Xiaobao while LYF (or her manager) outwardly rejected the request to play any of WXB's 7 wives.

Anyway, new pics. The article states that they're taken in Long You though they look like part of the batch of pics taken earlier in Wudang.

For those worried about ZJZ being displeased with Ady, you guys would be glad to know that the producer praised her as the actress most suitable to play the role of ZM.

According to this article http://ent.sina.com.cn/v/m/2009-01-14/01172341930.shtml, this adaptation is attempting to stay faithful to the novel. The dialogues in the series will be taken directly from the novel and the main leads will not appear earlier than they should. Adult ZWJ and ZM will only appear in episode 10 (quite a contradiction here as ZM only appears in the later half of the novel so should appear somewhere in episode 20 or later in the series).

ZJZ explains, "The usual series involve making the leads appear as early as possible and have their childhood/backgrounds explained in the shortest time possible. But Jin Yong stories are different, they usually involve a large group of characters, each with their own unique characteristics; it's as if JY doesnt wish to have a sole leading character in his stories. HSDS is similar to JY's other stories. The protagonist usually has a distinctive personality which is a result of a complex background/past. Hence, to allow the viewer to understand the character later, we need to establish his past properly first. A story like HSDS isn't focused on a single character, instead, the story focuses on a large group of Wuxia characters.

ZJZ also states that they will film every scene from the part ZCS and YSS leave Wudang with Xie Xun and end up on Ice Fire Island till the part ZCS, YSS and ZWJ leave the island and return to the mainland. He explains, "ZCS and YSS's relationship forms an important aspect of the story. The fact that they belong to opposite sides but end up being married is a reflection of Jianghu's state of confusion and the inabilities of its members to differentiate between good and evil. Their tragic end is a last attempt at resisting the injustice caused by hypocrites. Establishing ZCS and YSS's relationship as a base allows for a more successful portrayal of the ugly struggles for the HSDS later.

    Awesome pictures- thanks again Sunnysnow!

I love the ones of ZM and ZWJ on a horse... they look so happy! Though the one of ZWJ writing something and ZM grinding "mo" for him is also pretty cute...

I'm actually thinking that this may not be a good thing... for a start the latest version of the novel has the ending as ambiguous what happens between ZWJ, ZM and ZZR! (Just realized how many of the characters' names start with Z... throw Zhu-er and the director into this list! )

Also the book version of ZM is quite unsympathetic.... a little too jealous for my taste, and very little attention is given to developing her relationships other than the one to ZWJ. I was hoping for a cooler ZM than that!

CUTE. I think the only thing redeeming is Ady looks cute and refreshing. I am praying no crazy Ape in this one and no overly bubbly ZM.

I have a feeling i'll favor ZM over ZZR in this adaptation so I hope ZJZ sticks to the 2nd version of the novel rather than the 3rd.

I like that shot of Ady. I think it's probably one of the very few pics where ZM actually looks stunning. Dunno why but I love her expression in that pic- it's sort of sharp and sleek but with some grace and she looks like she's pondering over something.

New pics of ZM in Mongolian costume. Im okay with the head accessory but really don't like the outfit. The colour and style makes ZM look too rough and manly for my liking though I have to say she looks really powerful and imposing. I think its a different tribal outfit this time cause i remember the other one she wore on Peach Blossom Island was red in colour. The head accessory was also of a different pattern and colour from this one.

    Oh my goodness, gasp!

Ady looks so manly and mean! I like the dangling headband, but the color of her outfit is really old, it's brown. I wish it would be blue or red or orange. She does looks very powerful though. I think we will have a tough ZM (like Gigi Lai from 2000 version). I agree with you sunny, Ady has a wide range of outfits, from over the top manly (this tribal outfit) to cool warrior clothes, to extra feminine XLN attire

I guess she will have 2 tribal outfits then, hohoho

    Thanks for the updates sunny

Wow! I asked for tough and I clearly got tough!

Definitely very rough and manly like mentioned before, maybe a tad too much for my liking, but two good points- it's unusual, possibly the sort of rough wear I associate with a people who ride horses and are nomadic in an inhospitably cold environment (like the Mongolians were!) and secondly, I can't imagine Ady being overly girly and giggly in that outfit! So... overall its a win for me even if its not my favorite of her costumes!

The coolest picture is that first one... I like the arrogantly lounging body language, but coupled with a piercing look from Ady! Atta girl!

That map in the background of the third image looks very familiar - I think they had a very similar one in LOCH '03.

I like it that she's not all covered in makeup. I dislike it when they put modern makeup on people in these semi-historical dramas, and give the women ridiculously elaborate hairstyles with lots of hairpins and ornaments. When do women in wuxia-world have time to do all that makeup and hairstyling?

hm. it isn't the image that I grew up with ZM. I would think ZM is a tad more feminine.. and i think the beads maybe are too big for her head or something.

But overall, on the first pic, I kind of want that to be her in the Peace Temple. The "in your face" and commanding attitude kind of matches the mood where she made Mie Jue and the Kun Lun leader battler her henchmen.
I could already imagine her talking to Mie Jue in that pic- the "screw you old lady" look

wow. she looks REALLY tough and manly there! i think maybe she's overdoing it a bit. and her pose in the last one, with her legs apart and one hand on her knee, seems overly aggressive and manly. she doesnt look like a princess at all!
