It's true DMJ is very cute

Well, it is a good thing that... it is too easy to equate, in minor characters at least, less attractive looks with less attractive personalities so this would be stereotype defying to have a minor evil character with a lovely face!

BTW, I think I like the look of wuxia guys/gals on horses, everytime a picture of ZWJ, or ZCS or YSS, ZM come online, I think- wow, they look nice! So this time is no exception- ZWJ looks good on a horse! )

Yeah, in his dream, Zhu-er's scar is gone but apparently Yu Min still wanted to make Zhu'er look "realistic" (she's poisoned afterall). Hence, the silver lips.

Thank you Sunnysnow for the pict'ies as well! Really interesting to see all the four women side-by-side in full wedding gear... somehow don't think the hair suits any of them very well, but XZ comes out best of the women in the pictures.

Though I'm still miffed at the third version for making ZWJ more indecisive and "tuo ni dai shui" than prior versions by imagining the 'easy' way out of making a tough decision (i.e., not deciding at all and instead marrying all four of them!)!

Alas, if this version really is going to follow the book faithfully, then we can only look forward to an ambiguous ending that smacks more of comedy than a good dramatic finish!
Actually the way ZM leaves may not exactly be the same in the final product. It may be that the camera is focusing solely on ZWJ or maybe they're retaking a scene where ZM has already finished her part etc. Or it may also be like what u said- ZM being sad and all perhaps to gain some sympathy points from the audience after ruining ZZR's wedding.

From what I've read, this scene is one which ZWJ is dreaming when on the boat to Snake Island. So it may not be the ambiguous ending scene after all. Though I still have a feeling this adaptation will follow the ending from the novel. And since they're adapting the 3rd version, the woman ZWJ loves the most may still remain a mystery to us.

The thing is, I feel the directors should just have stuck to their initial casting choices- Li Shun as Ji Xiaofu and He Jiayi as Ding Minjun. HJY is nowhere the delicate and gentle beauty JXF is while Li Shun looks too pretty and soft as DMJ. And from one of the pics, Li Shun actually looks pretty good together with the actor for Yang Xiao! In fact, the pair look even more matching then in pics of the actor paired with He Jiayi.

Yup, the 4 women thing is from the boat when they were drifting- what I thought was Jinyong trying to make ZWJ more ambivalent since Jinyong couldn't end the romantic story the way he hoped (i.e., have ZWJ end up with XZ).

I was thinking along the lines of the ambiguous ending in the book.

Ah, interesting, I'd forgotten that- true, Li Shun looks very soft and would have made a good JXF!

Oh no, I hate ambigous ending, I don't like to leave on the cliff and figure out on what the producer is trying to do. I consider ending like that "bad" . I was hoping ZWJ would solely choose ZM and not have his heart on other girls.
I remember from the '86 version, where ZWJ said he will need to go to Persia and ask XZ about what happened at Snake Island when ZM and him was at Shaolin. ZM then said "you are finding an excuse to come and visit XZ"

I agree with Sunny on the role of JXF too, that actress is too old and not as pretty as Li Shun. Wonder what were they thinking when switching roles. Well, it's too late now. Yuck, I can't stand looking at YX, he's so darn old and ooglie

Some cute picts of kid extras recruited for the wedding scene - in an unusual article written by the kid himself!
    http://ent.qq.com/a/20090204/000255.htm

Seems like he was very excited about the opportunity and even bugged his mom about it. The group of kids had to be shaved and stay up late, but they got to have direct contact with DC as they acted a scene where they ran up to him during the wedding and surrounded him asking for wedding candy- DC even picked up/hugged the writer. It was his moment of glory! The kid writing the blog appears to be from a local primary school.

And yeah, I have no idea why she seems to be strolling out of the hall rather then taking quick and snappy steps. But at least ZWJ is chasing after her as opposed to the 2003 version where ZM actually stopped and waited for him to make up his mind.
    Thanks Sunny,
Besides the 03, the 00 when ZM/Gigi was attacked by ZZR and she staggered along the forest or something, and WJ ran after her . that's why I felt so funny which the way ZM walked in this version, just may be the PD changes some scenes

the four brides' pic , I like ZM, so pretty Imo and HZY is cute , the others are so so looking .
I 'm in same boat w. You , TiffTiff, I hate ambigous ending,
hopefully we 'll be sastified w/ this version, not the whining ending , gosh, don't make ZM shares her man w/ anybody , ( except for the 03 , my wish )

Cool article about the filming of the wedding scene.

Apparently the filming of the wedding scene attracted a huge crowd to watch, and alongside the multitude of firecrackers and red decorations, even old-timers said it was one of the most festive scenes they'd seen in a long time!

(A separate article mentioned that there were lots of people from DC's fan club there- making DC very happy at this "double happiness" - his 'wedding', and his fans. )

The firecrackers scared ZZR enough that on top of the red gauze they had planned for her (so she could show off her facial expressions even during the ceremony), they added a red cloth to protect Liu Jing.

DC states that ZWJ left the wedding because of his anxiety about his Yifu, and the fact that the messenger was ZM wasn't really relevent. He does however say that this is one of the most important scenes in the plot as it is the turning point in both ZZR's personality as well as the relationship between ZWJ and ZM.

Another article that talks about how tourists from all around the area were drawn to You Long to watch the filming, to the extent that they got in the way with their requests for pictures and signatures.

If I'm not wrong many fans were also hoping to become extras- not because of the 30 yuan a day pay, but just to get to be on the same screen as their beloved stars and to get their signatures!

Thank you yanfeng for the article & translation too . I can't wait to see more pictures soon. I want to see the part where ZM try to destroy ZZR's face, so far, no pix of it yet.

Thanks for the translations yanfeng. The bit with the child extra is cute!

ZJZ has confirmed in a phone interview that the scene with ZWJ and his 4 brides is not an ending scene for the series but that of a dream ZWJ has in the series; mainly for entertainment purposes.

And the brides up close. Starting with ZM.

    ZZR

    Zhu'er

    Xiao Zhao

    And the groom himself

the actress who plays zhu er is very beautiful. i don't know about her acting skills, but i think she looks like she would have made a better zzr based on looks versus liu jing (who is too old looking based on all of her costume pix so far). despite that "poison" lip stick look, you can tell she's a natural beauty.

ady's make up for the wedding scene isn't the greatest, which is one of the reasons why i don't think she stands out so much. she is a beauty, but i think with more dramatic makeup, she will definitely look more appropriate as a bride.

sad to say, but i think liu jing looks more beautiful in her wedding gown than her usual self because the veil is hiding some of her features. consequently, she looks less aged in those wedding pix. but when the veil is off, i dare say she doesn't look quite as good as behind the veil.

Yup, he dreams of it during the time when they were stranded on a boat escaping from the Persian Ming Cult.

Thanks for the nice pictures, can't wait for this to come out! =D

    Thumbs up

Thank you for the new pix, Sunny

I think Ady would look even better if she's in her Mongolian wedding dress, ZM is not Han, and she's in her Han wedding dress.
Look at this pix again, Ady's the only one looking at ZWJ/DC

    Thanks Sunny,
IMO , ZM is the most beautiful bride, love her light make up and her bright face. I love how Ady always stands out among the girls w/ her wattracted face ; Zhu'er and Xiao Zhao are so normal, specially XZ w/ her smile (she's ok if she doesn't smile ) , ZZR 's a little bit old but still better in her wedding dress, start to like her cold face

Haha Tifftiff, of course you would the first to catch that (I mean the fact that ZM is looking at ZWJ)!

Ahhh... now a Mongolian wedding outfit would be awesome... particularly a Mongolian princess in that time- I imagine would be an amazing thing... here's a few pictures I found of traditional Mongolian wedding garb:
    http://images.china.cn/images1/200602/259873.jpg
(Can just imagine ZM in this head gear- would be lovely. )
    http://www.travelandleisure.com/imag...mongolia_2.jpg
(This one is super cool too)
    http://www.everyculture.com/multi/im...02_img0168.jpg
(This one is so outlandish I can't even imagine it on ZM!)

Thanks for the lovely picts again- hmm... definitely prefer most of the girls in non-wedding outfits (except Liu Jing, who looks good in that half-veil picture!)

My fav is ZM in her half-veil picture- her arch not-smile... something very naturally, almost-suggestive about it!

    Hihihi yanfeng

Thank you for those pix of how Mongolian wedding dress with some unique headgears I like the first one, the second is kind of scary looking, similiar to XZ's wedding hair. The third headgear looks like Egyptian .

I just notice that your avatar is so cute, what animal is in your avatar???

It is actually the mascot for Gibli studios (Miyazaki's studio- famous for animated movies like Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away) and the creature on it is a Totoro... from the movie "My Neighbour Totoro"- fabulous cartoon if you ever get the chance to try watching it, as is most of Miyazaki's work! I'm not even an anime fan, but I love Miyazaki!

Sorry about drifting off topic- next post will be right on topic, promise!

Oh, thank you for the information on Totoro, yanfeng . I've learn something new today. I've google it and see more of Totoro pictures (and about the movie) and he's cute, kind of look like Pikachu from Pokemon So Totoro looks like a big, adorable cat . I like to watch cartoons, but not much on Japanese anime, probably due to the lack of time.

Sorry to go off topic guys

i think normally HZY is very pretty, but in the wedding scene her hair is really weird and big. lol

i think this one is a cool picture, hehe =)

and apparently this scene if when ZWJ goes to find ZZR at e mei sect after he runs out of their wedding. i like this hairstyle and outfit on LJ.

and finally, i think this picture is really cute, actually. although YX is pretty old and ugly, they're looking into each other's eyes nicely. and i agree with everyone else here. this actress wouldve made a much prettier and delicate looking JXF than wei xiao bao's shifu ahjiu in royal tramp (lol - thats what i know her by )

oh, and by the way, can anyone tell me how the third edition of HSDS ends? and how its different than the other ones? cause i always just thought that ZWJ ended up with ZM, period. whats the ambiguity about?
