For history buffs, here's fun sniplet... there was a real "Wang Baobao" in the Yuan dynasty. (In HSDS a small role as ZM's brother).

In fact the real Baobao was praised by all to be exceptionally talented (in fact Zhu yuanzhang, the Yuan dynasty founder/emperor, called him the "most outstanding man" in his time.)

The WBB in HSDS was useless, unlikeable, filled with jealousy from his younger sis ZM. Well, I thought the 1986 version had a bada$$ WBB , the 2000 version was much nicer.

It's cool that JY tend to include 1 or 2 real historical figures into his novel and expand it.

Hmm... I'm not liking DC's ZWJ's hairstyle. In fact, I still think DC's ZWJ and Ady's ZM doesn't look compatible. Ady is too pretty for him xD I really hope DC has enough onscreen charisma, so I can root on ZWJ/ZM in this series, like I always do. Coz if not, for the first time, I might not mind a ZWJ/ZZR coupling xD

I think the only time I like ZZR, was when I watch HSDS94, Kathy Chow's ZZR. And that's just because the ZWJ and ZM characters are terrible in this adaptation I really wanted ZZR to kill them both when I watched this one xD

There are some major differences Readers never got the chance to actually hate Zhao Min. I'm sure I've gone through them before.

Kathy Chow was a great ZZR. I loved her looks and expressions. Can melt most guys hearts.

Yeah, the readers/watchers are meant to like ZM. Oh well. Just trying to show some love to ZZR because she seems neglected.

Hello. I'm very new here. Read this thread and found it very interesting. Thanks for all the picutres shared . Looking forward to this HSDS by ZJZ. ZJZ production are pretty grand with big budget and breath taking scenery. But i'm so far not impressed with his casts like ZZR.

I think zhiruo is a pitiful character. I think she's torn between her master's wish, and her love for ZWJ and her own moral values. I think both ZZR and ZM make a lot of sacrifices for ZWJ. Sometimes i think he could have just married both. Beautiful ladies anyway. lol

Just to side track a bit, but does anyone know what happened to Quan Zhen Sect after ROCH? I know its hundred of years later when HSDS took place, but did it fall apart or what? Thanks

hm...i've read that xiao zhao was supposly the most beautiful girl in HSDS cuz she's a mix of han and persian, or at least her mother was suppose to be the most beautiful....but my question is who then is suppose to come after these two in terms of beauty in HSDS?

That's your personal opinion. I think Kitty is prettier than Sheren. Alyssa is prettier than GYY. And Sharla Cheung is prettier than Gigi Lai, imho In the 78 and 94 versions though, ZZR is prettier than ZM. I never watched 2000 one, but from the pictures seem like its obvious that Gigi is prettier than Charmaine

Different tastes I guess, but in no way would you say the ZZR actresses were ugly. At the very least you could say that the ZZR is comparable to the ZM actresses.

Welcome, wahaha!!

Well, HSDS is only set about one hundred years after ROCH. But in any of JY's novels I've read that are set in later time periods than HSDS, he never mentions Quan Zhen again. Taoist priests show up, but they're not members of Quan Zhen. But the school still exists, so I guess JY decided not to do anything with it after that point, perhaps not wanting to mess too much with real history.

I like it that Huashan is mentioned in HSDS (at least it is in the book), since I'm such a big fan of XAJH. I don't know if they'll appear at all in the series, though, since they don't seem to have a very big role in the novel.

Thanks SS for all your hard work- the pictures are lovely! Her eyes indeed are, I think, her best feature... hopefully they make full use of it and have lots of close-up's to give Ady a chance to show how expressive she can be with those eyes!

Tifftiff, I too can't wait for filming to wrap and hopefully a clip to come out! The main Sina website has 4 of the interview clips, and though I think we've seen most of them already here, the one with pictures of ZM is quite cute (they talk about how fierce she looked in her Mongolian outfit!)

I think Liu jing looks better here..kinda mature looking, but still better than previous ones. It appears to me that she can look very different from young, fresh-looking to very mature and "old" looking, from her pictures i seen. Was it the make-up or what?

Thanks for telling Sniffles . I thought Quan Zhen sect was kinda left out in HSDS because if i am not wrong, Quan Zhen was influential in both LOCH and ROCH. Seems that Shaolin took their role in HSDS
