Thanks very much FlyingDagger- great trailer!
I actually really liked the atmosphere- all those molten gold sunsets and misty blue lakes, not to mention the fabulous bellowing red sleeves and close-up's of Zhaomin or Xiaozhao's face (wow- Xiao Zhao is real beauty here!) I love the cool shots of ZM best still...and am also looking forward to ZM's dramatic scenes. DC's acting is solid as well... like him best in his action scenes- same with ZZR, though in her case I might just be getting used to her look in this series!
I agree on the epic feel- at points I was reminded of Lord of the Rings for the spectacular scenery and grand 'magical' action.... though two things I would have wanted more of
1) Zhang Cuishan... he looked so good in the pictures and yet this trailer had very little on him
2) Interaction between ZM and her followers, her father, etc.... here ZM mostly appears in the context of ZWJ
We're almost there people... hang on for the final sprint to the finish line!
If I recall right, there was mutterings about an August release at some point- hopefully this means they're on track for that delivery date!
That's typical of Yu Min's style and what I was afraid would happen.
It depends. I remember BXJ and DOMD's trailers were released quite a few months before the official release of the series. ZJZ's productions usually get delayed quite a bit.
Yes.

I'm actually surprised ZZR looks decent in the trailers....... She's my favorite character in HSDS so i hope the actress can pull it off
I don't like the musics used in the trailerBut the series overall looks good! Cant wait!

Oddly enough I liked the music- at least the first bit which had a voice singing... it sounded all very 'exotically ethnic' (perhaps in some North Western Chinese dialect which echoes Silk road languages?)- suggesting to me Ming sect's Persian roots, or maybe even ZM's Mongolian heritage.
Then it changed a few times too many and definitely I was thrown, but the music per se was fine... besides which the visuals took nearly all my attention!
Meanwhile- the font was too small for me... if XZ was "Hong Yan Zhi Zi", what were ZZR, ZM and Zhu-er?
even though her scenes are so few, i find ybh the most beautiful...
xz...she reminds me of an alien. i don't know...she's cute but very alien like. however, i find her most beautiful behind her viel as she looks more exotic, but with her face exposed...i just can't find her stunning. she's cute though...
zzr looks better in moving camera but still old however, graceful.
zm looks good in her mongolian outfit, but i find her cuteness overdone during her scene where she's doing the pinky promise with zwj.
i don't know...so far, i DO NOT like it. the flying scenes look toooo exagerrated even if this is suppose to be wuxia. and the opening scene looks more like a video game than a martial arts film. kind of disappointing if you ask me. hopefully, i'm wrong.

Woohu, thank you Flying Dagger for the trailer
I love all of the scenes w/ Ady/ZM, hey, how come there no scene on the Wan An temple or ZM in her tribal outfits yet?
The tickle feet is getting weirder, I bet it was hard to film that part. The rest of the trailer is really nice.
I thought it was kinda funny when ZM slapped the yellow butterfly with her fan, kinda mean too.
The last part of the second link (youtube link) focused a lot on DC/ZJW![]()
Who had the under water scene kiss? ZCS & YSS???
There's a nude scene in the second link too, hahaha. Well, someone was lying down, and look like ZSF was trying to heal that person? ZWJ, maybe???
Can't wait for it to come out soon![]()

I dont really fancy the music in the trailer too, especially the violin pieces in the later bits- too westernized/soap opera-sounding for my liking. And does anyone else find the sunset/orange-yellowish lighting very ROCH'06-ish? Was actually hoping for more black/white, naturalistic and tranquil colours since ZJZ did say he was going to adopt a calligraphic/traditional chinese painting-like style for this production.

Hi Tifftiff, welcome back!Hope you're slowly getting more sleep? Hi Sunnysnow again too!

Meanwhile- I'm guessing the underwater kissing is YSS and ZCS, though I too couldn't tell for sure (makes sense because of their near death experience getting to Fire-Ice island)
The naked person can't be a main character- surely the press would have buzzed about it if so, maybe it's ZWJ's crippled uncle? Or some nameless killed Wudang disciple that they're looking at wounds of to see how he died?
Re-looked at the trailer and like ZM's scenes even better this time- I think she excels more at the dramatic scenes though (I agree with someone here who thinks some of her light-hearted scenes might be just a weeeeee bit too comic).
It's true the music got a little weird and random-sounding at the end... though for the colors, at least for the trailer they did try to balance the watery blues with the fierce yellows, the bright reds with pure white scenes, so hopefully no one color will overwhelm the rest (fingers crossed) in the series!

My Chinese is really bad but my guess is that it means someone who really understands that person. It doesn't necessarily have romantic connotations but oftentimes it does. I guess Xiao Zhao is ZWJ's closest companion/friend whereas ZM and ZZR were always primarily romantic interests.
I'm curious, how did the trailer introduce ZM and ZZR? I didn't pay attention to the Chinese words because I'm only half litterate in Chinese.
Sunnysnow mentioned ZZR's was "新妇素手裂红裳" which I think roughly translates to "New bride cracks skirting with her bare hands"Just a description of what ZZR does at the wedding- and as SS also mentioned, they're chapter titles in the book.
"新妇素手裂红裳" - newly wedded woman tears apart a red gown with her bare hands... A reference to Zhou Zhi Ruo ripping her red bridal veil (or gown?) as Zhang Wu Ji and Zhao Min leaves the wedding hall.
thx for the trailer Flying Daggercant cant wait for this series to come out on dvd

Many thanks for posting the trailer, FlyingDagger!
As far as trailers go, it's sort of what I expect from post-She Diao Zhang Jizhong. His team paints a pretty picture, but it's somewhat ruined by cheap, gimmicky camerawork/CGI, a pervasive feeling of pompous melodrama, and the sort of music that only works as a background to displays of synchronised ice-skating. (And I'm sure I've heard some of that music before. Although not at the ice rink.)
I think I've cracked ZJZ's formula: he stuns you into submission with overblown set-pieces, until you've lost the senses to notice he's rushed the filming of everything else.
Nevertheless, it's just a trailer - and trailers tend to make everything appear crass. I look forward to watching the real thing and assessing it on its own merits. If the acting and dialogue are good enough, I can excuse the tastelessness elsewhere. I can already guess I won't like whoever plays Yin Li, though - she looks like she's from the "cute" school of Chinese TV acting.
Many thanks FlyingDagger for the trailer!
There didn't seem to be much 'rhyme or reason' to the sequencing of the scenes in the trailer, so I wondered why on Earth was ZJZ's post-prod crew took so long in coming out with it. It's not the greatest short-piece editing I've seen.
It's all very grand and beautiful (don't get me wrong, I'm really impressed by them) - I hope the actual series goes a bit beyond a tourism doco tho. Music and sound - there are odd moments where it works in ZJZ's productions and moments when it's like "What the?"...so I'm not climbing to high expectations on this front.
I'm quite impressed with a few DC/ZWJ's expressions in the trailer. Ady/ZM is mighty fine as expected - I'm happy to see that 'shuai' moment of her holding the wine up and sword the prelude to an actual scene rather than a set up for photos. Ughhh...twisty, contortionist acting for the ZM 'tickle me Elmo' scene - no wonder Ady said she was in pain after finishing those scenes. Although, I do appreciate Yu Min's attempt at doing something differently - certainly more 'actively' - in an otherwise well known, typical scene.
I like the 'ZWJ slams ZM into the stone wall scene'. Serious, angry, maybe not murderous enough from ZWJ, but at least they're treating this part of the novel with due respect. Not very convinced by the 2000 version, and as much as I loved the 1994 version, Steven Ma's melodrama just shot beyond the point.
This may be morbid, but I looove ZM's fan-killing-bee scene (I think it's a bee not butterfly TiffTiff, re-using ROCH digital yellow bees?), especially her little smirk right after it. That elegant, civilized, lazy fanning beforehand, yet a display of 'true colours' when it comes to the crunch. There is no question that ZM is an 'imperfect' character - this is no Sugar Queen (apologies to Sugar, definitely not debasing your username)...Ady's ZM oozes a confidence in knowing exactly who she is, what she wants, and a no-nonsense, Machiavellian demeanour in getting exactly what she wants.
Did anyone notice how contrived ZZR 'faint' against ZWJ was? I thought ZZR was supposed to be less obvious than that. One thing tho, I can't see much 'leadership charisma' when she does become E Mei's leader...Kathy Chow and GYY had it in spades.
Yu Min
I definitely agree that his 'vision' can be quite surreal, even obscure - fine with respect to the contextual plot one works with, tho Yu Min I believe kinds of strays from contextual theme time to time. Shi-Potian, I don't get how one can associate 'stupidly' and 'artistic' together, because they are most certainly not a likely pair of subjects or descriptions.
红颜知己
'Hong Yan Zhi Ji'....I agree with WuxiaGem, it does primarily have 'friendship' connotations. 'Hong Yan' referring to a female and 'Zhi Ji' meaning 'knowing/understanding Self'. A 'girlfriend' at best. Like the latter English equivalent tho, literally it means just a female friend, but can be used to refer to a romantic partner. Chinese believed more often than not in civility equating with subtlety, so sometimes this saying could very well be used to refer to a very 'significant other' even if on the surface, it was only a lukewarm reference. But all is in the context with Chinese, so in the ZWJ/XQ context, I think it's more friends.
Nudity
I really don't see the purpose of it. And I'm sure any competent Chinese Medical practitioner could tell more from the pulse than a gawk from a naked body...objective evidence is good and all, but in this case - assuming that MuDang is figuring out how to treat Yuan Ming Er Lao's palm strike, wouldn't one want to know the extent and characteristic of internal injury when the strike is essentially aimed to hurt internally?
It's always a pleasure to read your comments owbjhx, they're usually kinda funny...in pessimistic kind of way. Although, I more or less agree with you this time. Holey moley...you are probably going to spend your future visits to the ice-rink being reminded of ZJZ's HSDSOriginally Posted by owbjhx

Although, I've never 'not noticed' ZJZ's production deficiencies - despite the pretty pictures. Some scenes however do actually 'work', but they are far from consistent. ZJZ's productions is a bit like an eclectic smorgys board of good and bad filming sequences to me.
"Yin Li, though - she looks like she's from the "cute" school of Chinese TV acting".... I guess the 'peek-a-boo' antics were not entertaining?
Although, I don't see the cute Ady/ZM that everyone talks about. Her 'thumb and pinkie promise' scene doesn't seem overly cute to me, I've seen her do 'cuter'. She just looks devilishly challenging to me. More 'cheeky' than 'cute'.
