That is a pretty amusing scene.
I also like the scene in LOCH when GJ, HR and H7G are on the island with OYF and OYK: at one point GJ and HR go off alone for a bit and start discussing where babies come from. They're completely clueless. They're both so totally innocent and naive when it comes to sexuality that I can't help laughing.
I can understand why HR doesn't know anything, having grown up in isolation with no one but her father to talk to - despite his brilliance, I bet HYS would have trouble giving the "birds and the bees" speech to a girl. But I can't help wondering why GJ didn't pick up anything about sex from his Mongolian friends, or even from his six masters. Maybe he just spent too much time practicing his martial arts.

You might think that with all of the animal breeding going on in Mongolia he might have asked some questions. He really deserves the title ‘Sha Dan’!!![]()
Actually, I don't buy that either of them were that clueless...even Gwok Jing. Surely, they grew up watching animals do it in nature. For sure, Wong Yung could have put two and two together and figured it out.
I mean...c'mon, people! It's sex, not freaking ROCKET SCIENCE! Even Britney and Paris can figure out sex, for chrissakes!
There are a couple of references in LOCH that make me think GJ wasn't so clueless really. Maybe he was just too embarrassed to admit that he knew anything.
It does seem rather unlikely given her intelligence that HR didn't know anything - and surely HYS's library would have included some books with some information about sex! Maybe her apparently clueless comments were actually intended to get other people to say something for her amusement (it would be nice if JY had actually written that instead of me conjecturing about his characters).
It still makes for some funny scenes in the book, though.![]()

Even Xu Zhu the clueless monk somehow managed to figure it out on the first try.
Unless there is some naughty material in the Shaolin library collection.
Its BIxie Jianfa Gawdammit you guys!!!!
In LOCH, after all the bad things Ouyang Feng had done, Hong Qigong insisted on saving him one more time. Huang Rong protested. Hong Qigong replied: "We are bound by the rule of Beggars Clan to save one from danger." Huang Rong then said: "Jing Ge'ge, you're not from Beggars Clan. Go smash Ouyang Feng's head with this stick, then we cannot save him any more."
TC to Ken: "You need to watch the ending of ROCH 83."
The best part is how it ends.. Ouyang Feng comes up behind them and says "You'll know how to have kids when you grow up, now hurry - the waters are rising!" The cheeky fella had been listening, maybe thought they were hatching a plot or something, and probably had more than a little chuckle at their innocence. Huang Rong also blushes bright red, probably the only time she really got embarrased and wanted to dig a hole and disappear in the novel.
Another related scene I liked was when Guo Jing soiled half a roast lamb and Huang Rong told him to give Ouyang Feng the clean half. He is puzzled and protests, but she insists. OYF then asks where the other half is, he shows him, and OYF, suspecting something bad in the half offered to him, arrogantly strides to HR cooking there and takes the other half. GJ almost dies trying not to laugh and rushes back to HR totally amazed at her foresight.
It's often quite hilarious during DGSD when all of Deun Jing Tsun's lovers (or even just two or three of them) all show up at the same time.
I didn't realize it before, but all those people (Chung Man Sau, Gum Bo Bo, Chung Ling, Wan Jung Hok, and Divine Crocodile) going into that subterranean tunnel and getting their inner power drained by Deun Yu is actually quite funny.
DGSD is known as a tragic, depressing story, which it is, but surprisingly, it's also got more hidden laughs than many other Jin Yong stories.
I like the part where Divine Croc is embarassed to have Duan Yu as his master. But when he thinks he's not around, brags to DY in MRF disguise that his master Duan Yu has these mysterious and unrivaled skills. Also when he starts to respect DY.
I thot the scene in LOCH 1983 by TVB where Wong Yung, Zao Ba Tong and Kwok Jing have got Au Yeung Hak tied up to a tree quite funny. This was after AuYeung Hak and Yeung Hong almost blew them up with a canon.
Zao Ba Tong threatens to do something to Au Yeung Hak so he can't get married. Au Yeung Hak immediately looks down and thinks Zao Ba Tong was going to cut off his manhood! But naught Lo Wan Tong said "Au Yeung Hak you are so handsome let me just cut up your face", and the vain Au Yeung Hak just faints dead away!
Duan Yu, when he stopped two clan from fighting each other and they all got scared of him thinking that he's a master of martial arts....and then boom, he stupidly reveal that he doesn't know any martial arts....
Not sure whether it is in the novel. In one HSDS series, zwj and zm are at an old couple's hut. Fearing that "enemies" are coming, zm did a sommersault to zwj's side. The latter has a cheeky smile, possibly wondering why she need to sommersault.
