Default Hua Yuan jia & Chen Zhen Kung-fu series

There are 2 Jet Li movies, one called Fearless which is about Hua Yuanjia and another called Fist of Legend which is about Chen Zhen. Bruce Lee also made a Chen Zhen movie called The Chinese Connection.

There are also few TV adaptations.

    Hua Yuanjia series:

    - The Legendary Fok made by ATV in 1981
    - Hua Yuan Jia (starring Ekin Cheng and Jordan Chan) made by China in 2007

    Chen Zhen series:

    - The Fist (starring Bruce Liang) made by ATV in 1982
    - Fist of Fury (starring Donnie Yen) made by ATV in 1995
    - Chen Zhen 2008 (starring Jordan Chan) made by China in 2008

Has anyone watch all these (tv series and movies)? Which are your favorite series? How does the storyline differ? And which one has the best fighting scenes? Who's the best Hua Yuanjia and Chen Zhen?

Here's my favorite fight scene -

It seems not too many realize that there's another 2 part series made in 2001. That one stars Vincent Zhao as Huo and Wu Yue (of Secret of Linked Cities) as Chen. This was Wu's debut.

    Wu as Chen:

I've seen both of Jet Li's movies. I've seen part of Donnie Yen's series. I've seen Bruce Lee's film. And I've seen the Chen part of the 2001 series.

I liked the Fist of Fury (Jet Li) movie the best in terms of entertaining fights. I guess in terms of realistic fights, Bruce's version is better.

Donnie Yen tried to imitate Bruce Lee's mannerisms and came off looking silly IMO.

The Wu Yue version of Chen Zhen was ok, the actors actually can fight. But the plot was prone to typically tv series syndrome. Too predictable and common sense is thrown out the window for plot conveniences.

I have no desire to watch the Ekin/Jordan version. I know the plot won't be better and the fighting, I imagine, probably sucks.
What are you fighting for? Just mix them into pissing beef balls, stupid.

I watched the Chen Zhen series before the Huo series starring Zhao Wen Zhuo. Hmmm, have to say the Chen series was better. The Huo series dragged on and on with repetitious scenes and bad editing and was basically killing time to stretch what could have been a 15 episode series into a 30 episode one.

Also, they used the same actress for the female lead and the same child actor to play the same child characters. (the kid who played young YG in ROCH2006) Weird.
