Default Deterioration of the Chu and Mo families

As we all know, Chu Gee Lau and Mo 3 Tung were officials for Emperor Duan and later became his disciples. They were both stand up people, who helped fight against the Mongolians at Seurng Yeurng. Mo 3 Tung's sons were not liked by most because they were mainly antagonists for Yeung Gor. However, they were not really bad people. Their decendants however chose to trick a young Cheurng Mo Gei and find out the where abouts of Tse Seun. What happened to these 2 families. Why did Jin Yung make the decision to make them bad guys in the 3rd part of the trilogy? He could have just made up a new group of people.

Also, would they have had any idea about the secret behind the sword and sabre?

I think this is just to justify that HSDS is a sequel to ROCH.
