Default Which of Deun Yu's wives became Deun Chi Hing's (1 Deng's) grandmother?

Among Deun Yu's wives, which one bore him the son who would in turn one day sire Deun Chi Hing, the South Emperor 1 Deng of L/ROCH?

The very last sentence of the third edition states that the name of Duan Zheng Xing's mother (i.e. 1 Deng's grandmother) was not recorded by history, and there was no way of knowing whether it was Mu Wan Qing, Zhong Ling, Xiao Lei or some other consort who gave birth to him.

The name 'Xiao Lei' is unfamiliar to me. Who is that?

Xiao Lei (曉蕾) is the maid of the Xixia princess (i.e. Xu Zhu's wife). She was 'given' to Duan Yu as a sort of reparation from Xu Zhu, who promised to help him gain the princess's hand in marriage but ended up taking it himself.

DY takes everyone, doesn't he? Old or young, big or small. Lucky in JY's universe, almost every girl is pretty, even the normal maids.

I haven't read the novel and my memory of the tv series is really foggy, but I thought Duan Yu was supposedly "in love" with WYY at that time. Didn't he went to meet the princess, but had no intention of marrying her?

All this was changed in JY's third edition.

WYY was more in love with herself and the illusion of eternal beauty, and DY found out that he was could be in love with more women.....

It was a bad bad change on JY's part, imho.

Thanks for the clarification! Some of JY's revisions, I can see a good reasoning behind it (ex rapist in ROCH), but this one really stinks. I thought DY's extreme devotion to WYY was irrational and foolish, but there are moments he appeared quite endearing. So JY turned him into another version of wishy-washy Zhang Wuji? WYY was a useless wallflower, but at least she didn't annoy me. Now that she's also narcissistic, well, it certainly doesn't improve her image.

The love quest of DY actually have its redeeming part when he and WYY finally got together- it's called loyalty and faithful.

JY instead turned him into a different version of WXB @_@.

I guess what can justify his lack of loyalty to ONE woman is that Duan Yu inherits the Dali throne and becomes king; therefore, like most kings/emperors he has the freedom to have as many wives and concubines.

That's fine for a king, but damn you WXB, you can burn in hell!

Well, on the plus side, Mu Wan Qing gets to marry Duan Yu. That's better than WYY. I don't think she was worth following around and being faithful to. Should've just followed MWQ.

I would be ok with it if JY changed the ending so DY realized the person he truly loves is MWQ. We're in the land of fantasy, so despite DY being king and all, he can stay faithful to 1 woman. WYY can remain with her cousin. Everyone's happy

I'm hoping there won't be a 4th edition to the novels.

I hope so too. Having run out of straight possibilities, Jin Yong's 4th edition is likely to make a love triangle out of Kiu Fung, Hui Juk, and Deun Yu.

i'm confused. If duan yu got over WYY...does it mean he no longer marries her, even as one of his wives? so what happens to her at the end of the 3rd edition?

It would be certianly interesting. My prediction is that XZ will end up being the third wheel between DY and XF .

DY did not marry WYY in the 3rd edition.

I'm not too sure about the 4th edition if i'm you guys, there was a rumor about JY starting the 4th edition revision about one year ago - heard it on CCTV special documentary about JY. That rumor had worn down though.

I like most 3rd edition changes that I know about. They're generally more complex and 3-dimensional than their 2nd edition counterparts. Instead of having everything work out in a happy ending, he chose to make the situations more complicated, which I quite like.

Wait a minute! I thought DY had some sort of blood relation with those girls that he fell in love with (Thanks to his father) including WYY and MWQ?

That was resolved when it was revealed that Deun Jing Tsun was not Deun Yu's biological father (Deun Yin Hing, leader of the Four Great Evils, was Deun Yu's real father).

It was DGSD's "Darth Vader" moment.

The 5th version will have an ending which will have Mo Yung Bok grow super-powerful, kill the Janitor Monk, and finally brought down by a combination of Deun Yu, Hui Juk, and Siu Yeun San.
