    Default Funny Chinese wordings (translation)

Anyone who reads in Chinese finds amusing little wording oddities? I'm translating DGSD, and came across this hilarious little gem from Wang Yuyan:

    "朱碧二婢是他的心腹,从小便服恃他的"

Now, read the proper way, it would be as follows:

    "朱碧二婢是他的心腹,从小 便 服恃 他 的"

"Ah Zhu and Ah Bi are his two trusted servants. They've served him ever since they were little."

But if you read it a different way, it reads this:

    "朱碧二婢是他的心腹, 小便 服恃 他 的"

"Ah Zhu and Ah Bi are his two trusted servants. They serve him, starting from urinating."

LOL! Naturally, the second one is not quite grammatically correct, but it still got a chuckle out of me.

The second translation is a bit pervy/disgusting.

Very, and coming from Wang Yuyan, an extremely sheltered/prim and proper girl, that makes it all the more amusing.

It's always the quiet ones that are the freaks.

Even the second one could be thought of as saying the same as the first if you took "starting from urinating" as meaning since being out of diapers.
I know I prefer thinking of it that way.
