Mayb Bai Bing will grow on you. lol She does look more mature for the role though. This is my first drama that I see her in. In the theme song opening and ending song trailers, Bai Bing look very pretty, but when I first saw her in the story she didn't look as pretty, a bit disappointed.
Once again this happen to me. It's just like that time when I was in the HSDS 09 thread. Ever since my arrival here, the ones I seem to fancy are the one that's not so hot to others.

I feel so alone in my stance. lol

    Thank you very much!

    -Edit- Just finished ep 14-15

If I have something to praise about. It's the departing scenes. They are done VERY well in this series! 5/5

When susu died. From her death bed scene to her body being burned. The music, the scene, everything was well done. And then there's the princess departing, going to the king. The night before Hu Ge send her off. When he started singing the theme song, and then the next morning when he wrap her cut fingers and she walked on. Good stuff! I was touch by the music, the acting, the scene was awesome.

Ok, the music definately plays a big part. Despite me not even understanding the dialogue, I still felt what was going on.

The fight scene in the bamboo forest where Hu Ge uses drunk martial art at those bad guys, that was well done too.

Then by the end of ep 15, I was back to confusing stage again. lol
What happen? The princess and everyone got disease? So confuse.

I'm watching the Myth now w/out subs but I dont' really get the gist of everything. The action, costumes and acting are great though. Hu Ge looks really old & haggard now though (Ge Ge, stop smoking!) but still handsome. I hope to see more of him as a General because he's just a "normal" villager right now. The production is reallly impressive and for some reason, I don't mind the shaky camera job for the action scenes. Maybe I got used to it. So far, so good though....

Can anyone tell me how Jin Sha's character died? I'm thinking that she caught the illness that Hu Ge had but it was too late for her. It was quite touching when she passed away. I didnt understand a thing but it still touched me. How sad it was for her to leave Hu Ge after caring for him and then, letting him know how she felt *sniff*

I think Jin Sha's character is SO adorable. She has such a sweet face and beautiful, expressive eyes, too. I haven't seen Bai Bing yet but she does have a more mature, less youthful look. Hopefully she'll have a lot of chemistry with Hu Ge, or else their love story would just be pointless. I wish Jin Sha could've ended up with him though...they were so sweet together!

susu died to plague which she caught from huge after tending to him. the "doctor" had only 1 cure...so she chose to give it to him. she knowingly picked death for him. so sad, so adorable
    loved her character.

Yeah, I wish they would have explained this a lot more. Looking at the scene changes it seems like he's only been there for a year. Since it goes from Fall, to Winter, to Spring. At least that's my understanding.

Also, some people seem to think that time moves faster in the past while in the modern time it's slower.

Even so. I don't think a phone battery can go on two years without charging. I kept my phone turned off as well, and only turned it on occasionally, but my battery still runs out in two to three weeks. I would be lucky to have it last for a month.
I also wish they would have explained this a lot more too. I have some phones that can actually go for several months if I turn it off completely, like my Treo 650 (old, I know ).

But yeah, I doubt it could go 2 years, so that's why I think perhaps Hu Ge has only been back for a year.

Maybe he just grows hair really quickly Haha!

His modern girlfriend starting to fall for Hu Ge's brother on the other hand however, strike me as a bit odd. I mean, if they're gonna go with that approach, why not just make that modern girl just a friend of Hu Ge to begin with, that's it. Instead of ex-lover. Which had close to zero chemistry anyway.

I really hope they don't go with that angle. If they did, the most they should have done is that she has a crush on him or something.

I thought she was nice but we didn't really get to see too much of her personality. I'm also annoyed by overly naive girls...

Ha! That's exactly what I'm thinking.

And yes, I also feel the masked guy is the eunuch while Hu Ge is the computer guy.

I also feel Lu Su's sister might become bad as well either due to her jealousy over Hu Ge or her anger that her sister is dead.

I think almost all women look better in ancient dress. It's just so much more elegant and colorful. And the best part is how intricate the hair and hair pieces are. I kinda wish this would be a new trend

Also, when I first saw Zhang Meng in ancient dress, I almost thought she was Kong Lin's daughter.

aelitis: Thanks for explaining to me what happened to Jin Sha's character. I thought as much. So sad for her She was such a cutie and actually, not a bad actress either. Very likeable.

ChineseChik525: Yup, Hu Ge is a smoker. I was shocked too but there's a pic of him taking a whiff from a cigarette after he parked somewhere illegally in the newspapers. I can post up the pic if you wanna see it. But I confirmed it with some fans of his at Asianfanatics. It's so ironic because he nearly died a few years ago when he had the accident. He was so lucky to survive that. I don't want to hear news of him eventually developing lung cancer. Stop smoking, Ge Ge!!! I've noticed that he's aged quite a bit since his CP days and his other co-stars like Liu Yi Fei and Ady An haven't aged a day. Smoking really ages you fast...which is a shame b/c he is such a handsome man to begin with.

Unfortunately, most actors smoke or have smoked at some point. Hopefully Hu Ge will join those who have successfully kicked this nasty habit. Meanwhile, pictures are worth a thousand words.

yeah wish he stopped smoking too, but i guess it could be bc of stress. his scar above his eye still hasn't healed, and to a guy such as myself, i would be piss off if my face was damage and won't heal as it should. more then likely he'll stop smoking, most actors do after a while, its just a phase he's going thru.

Smoking delays wound healing, so all the more reason for him to stop.

Is anybody having problems with the tudou.com site or is it just my computer? I can't get into the Myth videos...

Sorry Wuxia..I'm gonna have to agree with others with the appearance of the princess (disappointing)....I thought it would be with more"elegance" and goddes like, but it's not. Her body was really "stiff" in her dancing or is it just the way the dance was supposed to be?....
But she does look pretty in some scenes

Lady Zhuge: That is the pic I was talking about...hehehe..yes, pictures are worth a thousand words. I hope that Ge Ge quits too! Smoking is sooo not hot. Hmm, maybe that's why he's so skinny these days too, even though ironically, he's supposed to be great warriors in his dramas (he doesn't look athletic at all).

I'm now watching up to the part where Ge Ge meets the Princess...and yes, just like everyone else, she's not what I thought she'd be. Bai Bing is pretty but she's not as elegant or refined as I had hoped. She does look like Kim Hee Sun in some angles but to me, Kim Hee Sun is much prettier. So far, I'm not feeling any chemistry between her and Ge Ge. Gah, if their love is supposed to trascend time, then I hope the plot will further develop their love. Although judging from the trailers, it seems as Ge Ge might have a few girls loving him.

And agreed, Zhang Meng looks gorgoeus in ancient clothing. She has such a beautiful face and when she's dressed in those beautiful chinese gowns, it really brings forth her beauty. She looks so trashy in modern times. Someone should fire her stylist in the modern times.....hehehe...she looks more like a stripper than an archeologist in the modern times.

The more I watch the more I think that Yi Xiao Chun is not General Meng Yi. lol

More like he's the interference in what's considered set history.

According to wiki about the original movie:

General Meng Yi (in the drama it seems like he's the guy who came to escort Bai Bing) is tasked to escort the Korean Princess Ok-Soo (Bai Bing who is a Tao An princess) from her homeland of Korea (Tao An) to China, where she will become a concubine of the Qin Emperor. On their journey from Korea, she falls into constant dangers. Especially from a Korean general (Tao An General who befriend's Hu Ge), who wants both to save her from being a concubine and to marry her. Each time she was rescued from the general by Meng Yi. Eventually, the princess had fallen in love with Meng Yi, and had no problem displaying her feelings to him. However, Meng Yi honors his duty to the Qin Emperor, and successfully completed his mission.

It seems like Xiao Chun never reincarnated. Maybe the princess would fall in love with the general if not for Xiao Chun come into the past.

Does anyone else share my understanding? lol

I'm on ep 13, and the general is called General Meng. But what I don't understand is y Hu Ge was listed as General Meng & Yi Xiao Chun.

I believe I share your understanding. Here goes,
    click to show/hide spoilers
What you're saying is that if Hu Ge had not travel back, the princess would eventually fall for general Meng, (The dude with the mustache, correct?) I would think so as well. Afterall, it was his job to escort her, and it was his duty to make sure she's safe. Of course along the way he has feelings for her, and she for him, etc. But freakin Hu Ge had to come and get in the way. I mean who is he right now? Just a nobody! lol

Ok, here's my theory. I believe general Meng will die, later, and his name or title will be given to Hu Ge. Or something like that. Thus why Hu Ge is also credited as General Meng as well.

As for Hu Ge interfering with the past, from what I could tell, they are going with the approach that the man who travel back in time, was destined to travel back, because it's his fate to go back and become a part of history. The very same history we have today, despite Hu ge's birth in present time, he was meant to jump into the past to fulfill his duty and play his role in history. (can be confusing I know, but most time travel story are that way. A Step into the Past was like this, and so was Terminator, where the time traveler go back not to change things, but to fulfill certain things. Everything was all meant to be, sort of speak, whether they realize it or not.)

When put into this perspective, Hu Ge didn't interfere with anyone's lives. Instead he was always meant to be a part of their lives.

So far it seemed to be that way.

this is not goin to follow the movie exactly. the fact that theres a box and that trinket already changes a few things. i think what is meant to be have been. the modern era we shown cannot be changed.
huge + gaoyao was meant to travel back. whatever they do back there they have already done.

its like the modern time story they told...of huge...but they didnt know it was he who did it. the statue of man stepping on the tiger.

    click to show/hide spoilers
huge is meng yi. i think he is meant to be with baibing.
all in all, i dont think he spoiled history. i think he was meant to be there.

    completely agree with wuxialover~

    [HOWEVER]
there could be a twist...where baibing dies...huge suffers tremendous pain at the end and he found out that he can undo it all. [butterfly effect?]
and the last few episodes would be dedicated to what happened should they have no traveled back in time. that would be interesting.
