I'm talking about his strength & muscle tone (i.e that boy is about as toned & strong as a girl). Don't get your hope up, girly.

jaejoong was really obsessed about working out when he first started out in the entertainment business. then after dongbangshinki went overseas to japan he didn't have much time anymore cause he was busy learning their language and also because the japanese fans liked their men small. so he really became smaller after his years in japan. he only started to work out again a few months before coming back to korea cause the fans in korea liked him buff and appreciated his body that way. but now he's back in japan and his fans have again requested that he not work out so much, so he's toned it down. i personally like him how he is right now. not too big and yet not so stick skinny like the rest of the japanese artists.

but one thing he's very shy about are his legs. they're soooo super skinny! he's so cute though so i don't care.

if you guys want another pretty boy, since you've all seen how beautiful jaejoong is already! here is my fave! suju's heechulie!!!

Whoa, are you speaking English? Wha?

It's weird how pretty boys are so popular. Men should be like men. I think 90% of all Japanese/Taiwanese/Korean male celebrities need more testosterone shots.

I agree. Asian male celebrities nowadays either look gay or look like girls, disgusting. Men don't have to look macho, but at least have a minimum of manliness for crying out loud.

    omg I agree!

I usually go back when it's winter over there, but one time, it was summer in China.

So because it's hot and I don't want to die of heat, I wore a tank top. Boy oh boy, people were looking at me as if I was a prostitute!!! but then again, that was quite a long time ago. they're better with accepting western culture.

    Who is this?

Let's look at some Asian guys who deserve the "manly" credits:

    Park Shin Yang - Korea

    Andrew Lien - Taiwan

    Yutaka Takenouchi - Japan

Lau Ching Wan - Hong Kong

Yutaka Takenouchi is indeed very very hot

I'd say Lau Ching Wan is more attractive than hot/handsome/hot.

How about Tony Leung Chia-Wei and Takeshi Kaneshiro? Can those two be considered 'manly' enough?

Nah. Manliness in men is overrated. It can come out real well (like Vincent Cassel or Paul Newman) and it can come out real wrong (like John Wayne or Clive Owen).
I agree that trends tend to be annoying, but that applies to any trend, any time, any place.
With some guys, girliness is very becoming - and androgyny can be very hot (that applies to androgynous girls, too).
I'd take Leslie in high heels over Harrison Ford in a hat any day. Too bad Leslie wouldn't have me, but then, that line of thinking would have been a pure theory (read "just silly fangirl drooling") even before he died.

blueberry: I suppose that Takeshi is a borderline "pretty boy" (and I am quite sure he'd be considered too effeminate by many), but Tony Leung Chiu Wai is IMHO masculine enough. You may say he doesn't look particularly strong or intimidating or rough or whatever. But I don't think he qualifies as "girly" or "pretty".

The above men are manly to me except maybe Takeshi Kaneshiro. There are times when Kaneshiro is more or less manly, other times he's rather effeminate.

Manliness is not overrated at all. You're putting too much emphasis on your personal taste. Take Lau Ching Wan for example. I don't find him good looking at all, but the guy is at least a man. Same thing with Clive Owen, he doesn't do it for me, but he looks like a man. I rather see an ugly masculine man than a good looking sissy. So you don't find Indiana Jones cool? And are you talking about Leslie Cheung? Leslie was delicate looking, but he still looked masculine enough. When he wore high heels, it was for show only. The difference between Leslie and todays Asian celebrities are their look with the long hair and their feminine poses. They simply repulse me. Leslie never repulsed me.

Has it occured to you that it's ALL a matter of personal taste?
To each their own. And it's not like I cannot appreciate a masculine guy. (On the contrary.)
I just cringe at formulations of the type "men should be this or that for crying out loud". Men can be whatever the hell they want. Macho, sophisticated, sissy. I can't stand macho (well - unless it's Lo Meng, I suppose), you dislike sissy, but I'd leave it at that.

Agreed. By attacking another person based on how they act, look, and how we perceive they should behave, we're no better than denying their freedom to be who they want to be. No better than Hitler and the genocide of Jews, the poor, scholars...

Yeah, for Takenouchi's charm, I'd use such description "capable of changing a straight guy's preferences to gay".

I'd say Lau Ching Wan is more attractive than hot/handsome/hot.

I would use "boyish" to describe Tony Leung Chiu Wai.

Another example of "attractive than hot/handsome/hot" would be Jacky Cheung. On top of attractive, I would add "charming".
