Default asian beauty v.s western beauty standard

yay, another pointless thread made by me revolving around "looks".
can't help it if i'm so ****ing vain besides, this is my first thread in a while

anyways, you know what i'm talking about right? i swear to god ppl back in the motherland likes the milk-white skin and big eyes and cutie patootie shit. i'm supposedly going back there in december but i don't think i want to.. but have to, to take care of some business
i've been back before.. and every single time i'm there, people would stare because i do my makeup differently. not my fault i'd rather look hot than cute actually, i wouldn't even consider myself "presentable" over there because people always stare.. they don't go for the look westerners do, so they see me as a "freak" pardon me with my sexy piercings and "sun-baked" skin and dressing "promiscuously" and dark eyeliner to look like a goth

i also notice their bodies are different too. i don't ****ing know what it is but i swear girls over there have bodies that look so fragile. ****ing grow some muscles damnnit. $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://img34.picoodle.com/img/img34/9/8/28/f_tm_0bc1e5e.jpg')

(this thread is not directed to all asian countries not a hate thread either. i'm just annoyed of how i feel so ugly over there because people ****ing stare 24/7 and it's not the good stare either. it's more of like the "omg look at her..she's a foreigner..look at those silver studs she has..look at the way she does her eye makeup..what a weird girl.")

**** you and the way my fobby cousins act doesn't help either. they don't get it when i tell them the way i look is what considered the norm over here.. always ****ing asking me "omg why do u dress like that? it so ugly" "why do you draw your eyes so weird looking?". i never questioned their fashion senses or their overall ****ing helly kitty look. people are just so narrow-minded over there, shit. $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://img34.picoodle.com/img/img34/9/8/28/f_tm_0bc1e5e.jpg')

and i really don't care what they think of me; it's just so annoying when people stare just because the way i look spells foreigner! foreigner! look as if i'm an alien why don't you $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://img34.picoodle.com/img/img34/9/8/28/f_tm_0bc1e5e.jpg')
    i know i look fine
but even so, when i'm there, my esteem goes down HAHA. okay, not really but i know people stare for the wrong reasons other than what i'm used to. i feel like the social "outcast" kid in highschool that everyone is afraid of

personally I don't like the overuse of makeup either. one of my brother's friends overdoes it heaps and I call her zoolander - from the scene in zoolander where they go in disguise to search mugato's office.

I need to see that movie.

With make-up, some people can wear a lot of make-up and still look amazing (like this friend I have). Some people just look terrible and plasticy. But there are also people who wear little to no make-up and look really good. It all depends on the person.

omg, that is so true now that you've mentioned it.
some girls have alot of makeup on but they look hottt and flawless.
some girls look like cake faces
i guess it depends on their face/how they do their makeup? some people are just THAT good with making themselves appear barbie-like and some tries but probably have the wrong foundation on blahblah.

i know what you mean, but, i must admit, conversely, when i see some straight from china girl, i stare. they do have different standards of beauty, and i don't mean blond hair vs black hair. i mean, bright flowery orange clothes with ruffles, stick-thin and wannabe pale. with bright blue eyeshadow and too red lips.

it does have a lot to do with where you grow up. and not just asia, not asia. there are big differences between the fashion and makeup in japan, korea, vietnam, urban mainland china, rural china, etc, as there are differences between such in boston vs california vs texas.

you shouldn't let the gawkers in the old country get you too down. you eventually get to come back here, where it's all cool.

Lol Kay, why don't you post your pic and we can tell you where you can work on to match your inner fobbiness.

I think this might have been mentioned before. Just different cultural definitions of beauty. In traditional Asia (and Europe too), being pale and fragile was a positive trait, because it indicated you didn't have to work in the sun, rather home educated, a lady etc. Modern Western culture is all about having energy, so the sporty toned tanned look.

When you go to Melbourne you will find we go for a different kind of beauty. Down under we expect women to know how to shear sheep and drive tractors. So you will see people with flannel shirts and farmer jeans in high end clubs waving their muscular tanned arms with sun spots, downing beers by the dozen. They will stare at you Kay, beware. In Sydney we are more civilised .

It seems that a lot of the more fobby Asian girls I see are either trying to bring back the "Twiggy" style (but without the fierceness unfortunately), or look like they're boys. It's confusing, because I'd often stare at a girl, not for anything, but just to see what gender they really are.

Unfortunately the boys are trying to look more effeminate with their clothing and hair style. So I second guess myself when I look at them.

conversely, sometimes i mistaken fobby asian guys for girls.

Yah, I don't get the whole geder confusion look thing. I mean, I like the whole Asian/Japanese guys looking like pretty girls thing, but at least they look pretty and not confusing.

omg are you serious????? no, tell me you're kidding
well, even now, in boston, people stare at me because..
eh i'm not going to go in details but i dress depending on the day.. like when i wake up, i'll think of a certain LOOK to go for.. so, i have an odd fashion sense sometimes.
on school days, i'd usually go for my "k-pop inspired look"....WHICH is the days where people stare at me most. for being different. GOOD different though, because that's just how unique i look
some days, i'd feel like going for my "gossip girl inspired look" where people stare at me too.. for looking very classy and sophisticated.
for night outs.. i go for hmm "show a lot of legs and skin tight shit" and people stare because.. yeah

idk if i should bring my k-pop inspired look with me to aussie..'cause that's my "usual look" and i don't want people at school to stare
