Default Leaving... and then Returning to Spcnet.

So, I was just wondering, do people leave, and then return once in a blue moon to see how the forum has become?

I used to be an active poster (and spammer :P) and then I left the forum, but now I've returned I still find much joy in reading posts (and wow there's a section for spamming :O).

Yes, me too. I started by being very active, then slacked off for a few months (visiting a few times on and off) and now more active again (visiting at least twice a day though not many postings). Possibly, Ken can be considered the most consistent visitor to spcnet. Is he still joining the record of "highest-post" member?

There are some active members in the past but not so now. Off-hand, I can remember Han Solo, Candide, kidd.

I've also disappeared from the forum, mainly due to being super busy with work and graduate school, and the fact that the forum is relatively dead nowadays. I think most people in my generation (who grew up with TVB in the 80s or 90s) are probably too busy with their own lives to bother with the forum. The forum has become a 古墓 (ancient tomb).

That means we should be able to improve our skills by a factor of ten, right?

    Welcome back!

Very true. We need more divorces and layoffs to drive more traffic here.

It's pretty depressing when you leave at a time when the forum was pretty active (several years ago) to the state it is now (i.e. ancient tomb).

It felt different at first but works for me now that I have less time. And we have a treasure trove of discussions to reminisce - pretty fun on a slow day.

I suppose so. It still works for me as I'm working from home. I guess this forum will never *truly* die.

Whenever I have time, I like to come to the forum and re-read some old threads. It's like taking a trip down memory lane.

Will I ever reach 2000 posts?

So huge, so hopeless, to conceive
    As these that twice befell
Parting is all we know of heaven
And all we need of hell.

It's kind of daunting that our life history or a good chunk of it is now forever inscribed here. Why have memoirs when you can just point at old threads and say "See, this is what I was like all those years ago."

Personally I find the wuxia genre kind of tapped out now. I've been reading a lot of XianXia over at WW or Bluesilver but end up here during dry spells.
