Thanks. I'm going to prepare for the interview this time. Though, I think I did well enough the last time. I will prepare just to smooth out the rough edges and wrinkles. Practice makes perfect.

Nah, I wasn't. I actually don't remember what she looks like from her first visit, but she came a second time with the transfer paperwork, just after I received the news from the principal of the other school. So, as most curious humans do after hearing such a thing, I took a better look at her!

Even the administrator at the school office (who took the call from the other principal and relayed the message to me), who is female, thought the mom looked more pleasant and attractive than the principal too.

And if what the principal said is true, I'll be curious as to who the dad will try to hit on (if at all) next!

And best of luck for your interview!

It's very little to do with the merit of the ladies in question, really. It just highlights the fallibility of males. In Canto there's a saying (probably exists in Mandarin too)..
Chai but yue cheep (wife isn't as good as mistress)
Cheep but yue kai (mistress isn't as good as prositute)
Kai but yue tau (prostitute isn't as good as affair)
Tau but yue tau but dou (affair isn't as good as rejected affair)

.. meaning that if a man submits to his carnal desires, he will always find his mistress more attractive than his wife, and a prostitute more attractive than his mistress. A prostitute wouldn't be as attractive as a normal girl from the office/work/casual acquaintance who you commit adultery with, though. Finally, the girl you fancy but can't get will always be more attractive than the girl you fancy but whom you have had adultery with. The actual quality of the women in question is not relevant. Sometimes you see married men having an affair and you look at the wife, then look at the third-party, and you think "No way man..." but the lust, the desire for something new, and the excitement normally takes precedence over any rational appraisal of the women encountered. It also explains why some couples swap wives as a fetish - one person's "take for granted" partner can be another's exotic fresh experience.

Not saying that it's right in any way, it's just the way many men think. The faithful ones normally practice restraint and suppress the desire, not letting the thoughts grow and take root, rather than being actually immune to such thoughts.

In summary, "lam yan jeen kak" (men are base).

Wish I could block annoying ppl in real life like the block feature on this forum!
I could avoid them of course, but wouldn't it be nice if they could just become invisible!

You could give some obvious hints to them, to show that they're becoming like a housefly - an irritating specie.

It can be quite an accomplishment to take on such specie and neutralize their irritating-ness.

Hmm, the version I found on the net is different from the one I knew, so I probably got it wrong..

    妻不如妾、妾不如婢、婢不如嫖、嫖不如偷、偷不如偷不着

There's a maidservant before prostitute. Men are even more base than I originally said then =)

There's little difference, because maidservants (back then and even today) were in a vulnerable position that their masters could 'take' them anytime they want, thus becoming their mistresses.

Is it the policy of HK Video stores to assign a stalker for every customer that walks in?

I feel like I gain an extra shadow every time I walk into a HK Video store. A staff/promoter will immediately follow you like a glue the moment you walk in and stand beside you the whole time you are checking out the videos. He/she will either recommend you this and that video or stand there observing you checking out the videos. When you move, he/she moves, you stop, he/she stops. Pretty unnerving I tell you, especially the 'you walk I walk, you stop I stop' part.

Speedy stores staff never do that.

I wonder if I should tell those promoters/staffs not to stand so close and not to follow me. I like to check out the products I want in peace.

These stores have an unspoken policy: anyone who walks in and doesn't spend money is a thief.

Yea, even when you're blatantly in trouble trying to locate something in vain they still ignore you. You have to interrupt their chit-chat and ask them to help you find something.. I prefer that than being shadowed, though.

It's the same with Singapore stores, you enter and get accosted. What I do is then speak Canto and they all back off! bless Canto!
