Who is Di Yun's "true" love: Qi Fang or Shui Sheng?

Throughout the novel, Di Yun (Cantonese: Dik Wan) was "in love" with his sister-at-arm Qi Fang. Right up until the moment she died, he still thought she was "the one."

However at the very end, it was Shui Sheng who waited for him when there was no one else left. The novel ended with her happily running towards him, and presumably that was the birth their future, though we didn't get to see any of it.

And yet, even when the novel ended, he still haven't gotten over Qi Fang. Maybe he got over her later, but we didn't get to see that.

So I ask you, who is Di Yun's true love: Qi Fang or Shui Sheng?

I think it's Qi Fang. It wasn't until the very end of the avalanche entrapment part that the two started respecting each other and trusting one another.

Based on the the series with Roger Gwok as Di Yun, Kitty Lai as Qi Fang, and shallin Tse as Shui Sheng, I think Di Yun's true love is Qi Fang but he also has feeling for Shui Sheng. I think he eventually will end up with Shui Sheng. It takes time to heel.

I real like the series. I like the fact that the hero is not all that good looking where girls following him all over the place like chor lau heung and there is no happy go lucky types of thing like other heroes of jin yong's novels. Yeah, the series is very depressed, but good.

I never got the feeling that he ever felt anything for Shui Sheng. Perhaps many years later, if his heart ever heals. But while in the novel, I'm pretty sure he only had Qi Fang in his heart. In fact, I wonder if the little daughter wasn't there, would Di Yun even bother living... Afterall, he centered his life after jail around revenge.

i'm a bit upset shui sheng even showed up in the end. i found her kind of annoying.

Well, they both ended up back in the snow valley so he doesn't have to search for her.

But, in the time frame of the novel, he loves QF. SS wasn't even on his mind when he returned to snow valley (or else he would have gone searching for her since he couldn't have known she returned there). He just wanted to live in seclusion and raise Veggie. He had assumed that SS would marry her cousin.

Well we are talking about the actual novel or more accurate adaptions,NOT the cheap one made by TVB.... Can you STOP basing it on that???
