    LOL

I met Han Solo in real life that's about it. But you also get to know people better on msn and dota. Don't argue with Han Solo, not much to disagree on, except that Jin Yong>Gu Long.

I found out about her because I know she has always been obessessed with this one actress so she left the address to a website for that star which she manages. I then came there and read her profile so I know it is her for sure. No, she only came by for like 4-5 times, but then after we argued she has not been back. I don't think she knows it was me. IF she did, I don't think she would have dared talked to me the way she did.

OH yea, I am not sure if we do already have a similar thread. Sorry for repeating it then...

People from spcnet, no. But I have ran into people from other online boards. I saw them at a local restaurant. It's funny that I know who they are but they don't know me. I feel like I'm outside looking in.

Well I met two people, and I went away with the notion of marrying both of them. Too bad that can't be possible. =D

We are dota buddies, and happen to share other interests too. I am interested in his specialty, so he is also a mentor haha.

I think most people would act differently in internet and real life. In real life, most people be more like politically correctness and tell them what they like to hear.

actually, no to date. but i have met people from other on-line sites. once i went to meet a on-line person, and another on-line person came. I am shocked when both of them are husband-and-wife.

two people from spcnet whom i hope i can meet face-to-face one day are green destiny (no more active here nowadays) and kidd.

People who act significantly different in real life versus online are people that studies have shown to have unstable personalities, and last time I checked, my personality profile is pretty decent.

I don't believe in acting differently, simply because the medium is different. How I "act" on SPCNet is how you'd find me in real life.

Eh jaded, can you link that study pls?

It is possible that ppl are more at liberty to act like an *** behind the anonymity of the intrawab but ppl who are nice online are likely to be nice in RL as well.

I read it a long time ago, so I don't know if I can find it, but I'll try.

Basically, the study found that people who act significantly different online versus in real life (i.e. very nice in real life, but a total jerk online, or vice versa) tend to have self-esteem issues, along with deviant personality profiles.

Of course, the results are only for people who act significantly different (I forgot how they measured this significance). Many people may be a bit more outgoing online, and then somewhat more shy in real life, and that's fine.

I think the study did say that many choose to act differently, because you are behind a computer screen, and your actions have no immediate negative consequences.

I think that makes sense because I have met people from the net in real life and lucky for me, they were just how they were online. I act pretty much the same as I act online and in real life. Maybe the only difference is that I may be more open in some ways online than in real life because there are things that I would write but would never say. However, I am pretty much the same person for the most part since I don't believe in being fake regardless if it is in real life or online.

So if a person is a jerk in real life, on forums and on dota, it's ok? What if that said person is nicer to strangers?

I think if you met me in real life you'd question your sexual orientation.
