Default IS there a Chinese equivalent character for this Vietnamese word?

I'm told the word/name tuyen in Vietnamese can mean "distance / travel". Does it come from a Chinese word? I could not think of one that sounded like it; would appreciate your help.

I stuck tuyen into a Viet dictionary and one of the words I got was tuyển. In Chinese, that's 选. It's not "distance/travel".

    Thanks Yushi.

According to this page, "tuyen" can have the meanings of "line" and "ray", both of which can be translated as 线 (ray is 光线), so perhaps that is what I was thinking of for "distance".

I seem to remember seeing "tuyen" (with certain accent marks that I can't reproduce now) associated with travel in Vietnam.
