Having TCM [the Turner Classic Movie channel] lets me watch lots of old movies. They're even running the old Bowery Boys movies on Sat. mornings. It's fun to watch someone like Sheldon Leonard playing a small time crook a few years before he became a big time TV producer.

I like to watch some old movies. Sometimes I find my self very intrigued by such movies, because some them are truly art pieces. You wouldn't find such deep meaningful stories which requires thinking audience to appreciate it in today's movies. Blade Runner and 2001 A Space Odyssey are great examples.

Recently watched a 1958 'B' movie called China Doll staring Victor Mature and a well known mainland actress Li Li Hua [lovely face]. It's about the pilots and crews that flew supplies from India to Kunming in 1940, for the Flying Tigers and Chinese forces. Loaded with cliches like the Chinese kid 'mascot' and the dedicated missionary. You weren't expected to notice that the plane flying in the beginning was painted aluminim grey with the star and bar insignia, and landed with olive drab paint and the early war star and circle insignia. Airplane buffs would also notice the footage
of Japanese aircraft types that would not appear for 1 to 3yrs later in the war.
The ending did make one a bit misty eyed tho.

If old movies are always good, why don't you watch them?

How would someone who usually doesn't watch something know that that something is always good?

natural assumptions...like the people who says TVB 80's series are way better then the new ones...because blah blah blah...

I not much of an old movies fan...I can't get over the fact they aren't in colour and the ones that are don't really attract me...i like my new age movie technology too much...I'm that type of person who would go to watch a film i had absolutely no interest in because it has great special effects.

the oldest one i've seen would be Taming of the Shrewd or The Importance of being Ernest...whichever was older.

Oh but I did watch a lot of Charlie Chaplin's work...they are definitely older...do they count?

my favorite part was still when he ate his shoe on the mountains...
Currently in love with Bae Suzy...for superficial reasons.

I don't watch many old stuff either and am not a fan. But for wuxia I will always love the TVB 80s over any current ones. I seriously cannot stand mainland and current TVB wuxia series one bit.

Some of you may have seen or remember this movie: Cellar Dweller, from the 1988. A friend's words reminded me of this movie when she mentioned "She was surprised that a fanfic she wrote actually happened/came true in RL.". I thought the cartoon's artwork is brilliant! Despite some may find this movie cheesy, I like the concept of it, and gives me that nostalgic feeling.

This is Part 1 of the movie... the rest of the parts in this movie, is pretty much "like that". Enjoy!

What can I say? I'm still standing! No weapon against me shall prosper! I am more than a conqueror!!!

I don't care to sit by the window on an airplane. If I can't control it, why look?
