How the heck did you "accidently" delete everything from your harddrive? I can understand if you accidently deleted one or two, but that many, really what happened?

Hmm....I heard you can restore deleted files because they're not really deleted or something?

    Google it.

May not sound very useful but I'm sure many people have encountered similar problems.

Still don't know how you could delete 20,000 images without realising.

When you deleted something, you only delete the FAT (not those thing on your luv-handle LOL). FAT is a File Allocation Table, means the address where your files located in your hard drive so that the OS will know where to find it.

Even if you delete your files and then format your computer, the files is still there unless the space is needed and is overwrite for new files under those magnetic underwriting. Using only what you got in Windows (I mean the standard software) you're doom to fail to undelete those files. You need special software for that.

Search the Internet for undelete, tons of software available, free, trialware etc. Most of the time it is all depends on your luck, you will not get a 100% recovery. You really must know what you're doing with this things, you don't want end up in creating a different disaster in it. So better ask one of you geek friends near you who know at least a little about it.

This is an example of that kind of software:

    http://www.officerecovery.com/freeundelete/

I dunno if it's works, just try it. There are other softwares.

Some of the software that I once used, I downloaded from the usenet (pirated)
    - EasyRecovery Pro
    - Fast File Recovery
    - File Recovery Professional

    thanks SS for moving this.

and yes, i was stupid! i was deleting something else from desktop.. manga that i've downloaded over the years, but for some reason i must of had dragged too fast and caught my other folders with it! then that screen popped up saying it was too large for the recycle bin and that it'd just be deleted. so me thinking it's just that manga folder which btw is also VERY huge! i just clicked okay.. and then i ran to the bathroom and came back to find my other folders were gone!

    thanks rosely, i'll look around.

Maybe it's better that way? Say bye bye to ur yunjae pictures and come back to me.

However, i'd hate to see you in pain...so try using a recovery program as rosely suggested. I have used EasyRecovery and Norton Ghost.
Due to several complaints, I will stop using the terms "Babe" and "Baby" in reference to our female counterpart. They will now be replaced with "B*tch."

no, it's not yunjae stuff that i'm really sad about. because i have a back up folder for yunjae online. so those i could just go to photobucket and download again very easily. it's the stock photos, textures, lightings, and other psd files i've created for photoshop that i'm sad about. i just put so much into them that now all my work is lost! all my recently organized stock photos! it took me a whole day to sort them all into it's category! i feel so much pain!

i've tried a recovery software. it didn't bring up anything that i wanted. just some yaoi anime stuff that you sent to me a few days ago.

Gugu, I would give a different program a try 'cos certain programs are better than others for recovering stuff. And may I suggest that you install them in a separate drive (like D or E) and not the drive that you're going to recover from, otherwise you're likely to erase those files with new data. I hope you'll understand what I mean.

Yeah, and make sure to save the recovered files on another partition/drive. I once deleted my whole manga directory (A to Z) that I collect for years. I recovered it, but lots of them just corrupted. I end up downloading lots of things, AGAIN!. That is a problem for a person who got COD - Completist Obsessive Disorder

Sensei, I understand that those PSD files are really very precious. Hope you can recover most of it.

    anything? haha, just kidding.

hmm what do you have on there? if it's personal pictures then I think you need a geek or data recovering service. It's hard to pull that stuff off if you don't know what you're doing.

nope haha, if I live near you I would help since I did learned some photoshop from you. BUT i don't think I do. You kindda need to be at the computer to do anything, and since you've been using your computers for the last few days, i'm pretty sure 100% recovery is slim with just software.

If anything happens to your hard drive (knock wood) you can say goodbye to your files as well. You should keep a copy of the files away from your PC (CD, DVD, external hard disk, etc) if they are important, just in case.
