Default Obama's address to American students

But it's not like the mods get commission or bonuses or anything..........

Totally off-topic (but then again, this is in the off topic section), but why are people mad at Obama's planned speech to students across the country? I don't get it. What's so bad about him asking students to concentrate on education?

Some people thinks he's trying to brainwash the kids. Putting stuff in their heads without parental guidance.

Well, can't have American kids getting smart all of a sudden now, can we?

I've never read the ROTCH story, but I was never really a fan of Yang Guo as a character in series. HXM's most recent "screaming ape" portrayal of YG didn't do much to increase my liking of him either. Hence, my vote goes to Ken.

I personally don't find anything suspicious about Obama's intentions. I think it's great that he's encouraging kids to be hard working and ambitious... I mean, it's certainly more convincing coming from a President than say, a teacher. Clearly, Obama didn't get to where he is today by dropping out of school and selling crack for a living.

Tell that to the crazy hardcore rightwing racist nuts.

First they say he's a terrorist muslim. Then when that didn't work, they say he's a commie. Then when that didn't work, they downgrade their accusation to socialist.

Why don't they just admit they can't stand having a black dude as President?

Are you a member of NAACP? Are you a student of Al Sharpton and/or Jesse Jackson? You are an expert of using race card.

It's not Obama's words that I find suspicious, it's his actions and the people he appoints, like that shrill Hilary and J Biden the walking vagina behind the incredibly sexist VAWA act.

So Obama may have the perfect plan for America and word it beautifully, but he will leave it in the hands of people who will fvck all Americans sideways.

Hilary and Biden? Bleh, NOTHING compared to Mr. Van Jones.

They were planning "homework sets" to go along with the speech. That and the speech itself was hastily changed after the public outcry.

I suppose people like Cheney and Ashcroft were great.

The problem is that, most people just ain't that bright. They are more likely to buy propaganda than believe anything truthful he says once they believe that he's turning this country into a socialist one. Obama is gonna need to use more than reason to win them over. He needs people like Karl Rove to do things the shadier way.

Obama will be visiting my former college on Monday 20th; http://www2.hvcc.edu/ It's really neat he can stop by for his speech from his busy schedule and I'm proud I went to school, there now. Who would of known? Although, I wouldn't be able to go too busy working The traffic is going to be hectic and even worse the college parking.

I'm used to hearing socialist politicians blab about compassionate society all day long. To me, Obama sounds like an ambitious socialist who means some serious business but who lacked the experience. Didn't think there was much to argue there.

The real question for Americans is: do you want socialism or not? They will have to decide for themselves. Socialism has its pros and cons alright, but if Americans believe it will solve every capitalist problem without bringing in new ones, then they have my deepest condolences in advance. =>

Fact is, USA is (still) the superpower everyone else is jealous of, mad at, or obsessed with, so everyone is watching.

And I will say this: USA rose to be The Superpower precisely because it is NOT Socialist (Communism is another story); because it is elitist, competitive, aggressive, and is darn proud of these qualities. Because it openly admits there is NOTHING WRONG to strive to the top. This is (or was) The United States of America. On the other hand, socialism breeds mediocrity and complacency - this can be seen as either good or bad.

Americans: do you still want the superpower title that takes blood and sweat to build and garners all the attention of the world? Or are you happy with becoming one of the many socialist countries yapping along and getting by and eager to tell everyone they are so very happy and content when nobody freakin' cares?

    Decide.

No policies will work without resources. And even then, they can only last so long, unless population growth is brought under control. Too many people looking to consume, and no one looking for new ones. This world is destined for a catastrophe.
