    Talking Taiwanese 90s actress--Tu Shan-ni

Personally, I like the 90s actresses in comparison to TW current actresses. In terms of the acting ability and looks, the contemporary actresses are so behind the 90s actresses, such as Tu Shan-ni (Tu Thien Ni), Yue Ling (Nhac Linh), Zhang Yuyan (Truong Ngoc Yen), Du Tieu Pham, and sometimes Xiao Qiang (Tieu Tuong). Series back then, even though, a lot of crying, but the storylines are meaningful. Whereas, series nowadays are sometimes lame and uninterested. Again, it depends on one's preferences.

Going through the pages, I hardly see any information regarding this actresses--Tu Shan-ni (涂善妮). Though now she changes career, no longer acting, but she made small appearances in several series, such as Amor de Tarapaca, Only You, etc...However, my favorite series of her is Clivia Flower (Quan Tu Lan Hoa). The storyline is well developed and the acting is perfect.

Because not so many sites are written about her...besides Chinese sites, which I am not fluent in, I am hoping fans out there that know this actress can post something about of her up here.

after re watching some Taiwanese series from the early to late 90's i came across this actress again.

I always got her confused with Yue Ling since they look kinda similar to me.

I can't believe how hard it is to find information on this actress.

I've seen quite a few of her works and liked her as a child. I can't even find a filmography in English for her. Such a pity.

would anyone know the Viet name of this film where she was the eldest of three sisters and she fell in love with a professor whom her 2nd sister loved as well? she had a child with her first love, I'm not sure if that child died or not since i could only watch the start and the end. Missed all the parts in the middle.

    Its called "深闺梦里情" in Chinese.

She is now working as a designer and has left the industry. Though I did find some more recent clips of her doing charity.

    Looks like she's not married.

according to below post taken from below site, Sunny Tu was married for a year to a script writer, they divorce in one year due to the normal issues like incompatible and also he gets jealous of her filming.

there was a sentence that said something about he wanted a son and she didn't because she already has a son? anyone care to help with this.

It's a surprise seeing people talking about her outside of Taiwan. I am a big fan of her, and recently, her dramas are showing up on Youtube, so I have been travelling back in time.

What you said about the dramas in the 90s was right on! I just finished watching Marriage Flower and is now watching Only You. Even though both involved unresasonable plots, they do tell a better story than the idol dramas we see nowadays. I think this is also why we feel the actresses now are behind the 90s actresses, Ariel Lin is an exception :P. Current dramas are mainly about romance and that's it, so it's often about young kids in love. Yes, there can be beautiful stories, but it's also very limited in content as well as acting. I think it's time for the producers to review some of the old dramas.

Shan-ni, or her English name Sunny, left the industry when it was flooded with idol dramas. It's an understandable move since there were no longer important roles for her to play. Yet, it's probably also true that she was a bit tired from all the acting she did in the previous decades. Had she wanted to keep on acting, she could have gone to China, but instead, she decided to enjoy life. That's so her though, such a personality. She did come back for a drama last year that was called Bitter Sweet. She played a single and famed writer whom she said was a close portrayal of herself personality wise.

Love Lady and the Officer as well!! Even though I hated the part close to the end where everyone was blaming her for asking Bian Shian to make the difficult choice, the chemistry between the leads throughout the drama was just amazing!

Actually, according to her lastest interviews, she stopped her interior design business as well, because too many people used it as a channel to chat with her instead of seriously thinking about designing their homes.

I think the clip you saw was her fundraising for stray dogs and cats. If you look at her facebook page, you can see she still has great love for animals. Yes! She opened her facebook page last year, and updates it maybe every one month or so.

    Also yes, she's still single.

Her ex-husband has a 15-year-old son from his previous marriage when she married him in 1998, so she was referring to him. It's true that Sunny never wanted kids though.
